ronhenry4 Posted January 14, 2009 #1 Posted January 14, 2009 I was lucky enough to go to florida for a few days to spend some time with my parents in a warm climate. while visiting them (they live in a 55 and over community) my dad and i went for a walk to show me around and i saw a first Gen RSV so i stopped introduced myself and started to check this bike out that seems to be the rage here in our little community. So after talking to Roger from canada for about 1/2 hour he tossed me the key and said take her for a spin.. now i was a little hesitant about riding another mans bike but couldnt pass up the opertunity..so 30 min later i rode his bike back. i really liked this bike not enough to trade my second gen for one but i do have a new respect for them. oh i also told Roger about this site and invited him to join and i hope he does real nice fellow.

Marcarl Posted January 15, 2009 #6 Posted January 15, 2009 You got to own one to know one, and to know one is to own one.
Yammer Dan Posted January 15, 2009 #7 Posted January 15, 2009 Thats a sharp 1100. Those were a great bike.
91nwl Posted January 15, 2009 #8 Posted January 15, 2009 I have "old" respect for the 1st gen. Mine was sitting outside the Yamaha shop a few months ago in for a fork rebuild and a customer who had never seen one thought it was some new model.
mini-muffin Posted January 15, 2009 #9 Posted January 15, 2009 Now that's funny. Obviously didn't know much about the bikes Yamaha sells. Margaret
FROG MAN Posted January 15, 2009 #10 Posted January 15, 2009 The secret is out. It all began when I hit the bid button on Ebay. Told my wife about it later.I get the urge to bid again when I see a first gen going cheap.

Ivan Posted January 15, 2009 #12 Posted January 15, 2009 Did the XS Venturer use a vetter faring? I had always assumed it used the Yamaha style. I think I will leave my XS naked, now that I have a Venture in the works. Someday I will get a wiseco big bore kit and keep it as my hotrod. The venture takes it in the "style" department though. Cant wait to cruise on it.

Cant wait to cruise on it. I believe the XS Venture had the Pacifico fairing which I never did like the looks of it. I have the Special which has a leading front axel, different exhaust and a few other things so I built my own touring bike....sorry about the quality..picture of a picture on the living room floor:-) early touring bike... http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t37/yamaha_28/DSC_0042-1.jpg and then I got the Vetter with the lowers put on in the fall and winter months,Yamaha luggage rack with adjustable back rest, soft saddle bags, moved rear turn signals to plate bracket, hwy pegs, fork brace and a few other things..while not a true Venture it is exactly the ride I want, been coast to coast on it,still low mileage at 77,000. Ivan have you been to http://www.xs11.com/forum/ any 1100 question you have will be answered.

It looks so much like mine. I have a Pacifico fairing and KC bags and trunk. But mines an XS Special just like yours. I'm also pulling a Velorex 700 sidecar with it.
