Going to Cloudcroft, NM

We are headed out in the cage on the 19th to Cloudcroft, NM. We have rented a lodge called Bear Ridge that really looks nice. Hope to enjoy some snow and mostly some time to relax. We are planning to check out the White Sands and some other attractions in the area. Can anyone in the area suggest anything we don't want to miss and maybe give us a snow report? From everything I have been able to check out it seems like the roads stay in pretty good shape but a first hand report would be nice.
