On the farm our entertainment was having the neighbor kids over, going out to the pig pasture, grabbing a pig by the tail, sitting down behind him and letting him take us for a ride! Sounds dumb, but we had a ball!!

At night it was always a game of "Greasy, grimy, gopher guts". I beat our neighbor David every time!

Thanks for the memories!!

It was either my brother or me! Dad would say Change the chanel. Lucky we only had a few, and he had his favorite shows to watch. We had to get up go over to the TV turn the dial.

He also had an automatic Beer delivery system

"Rick go get me a BEER!"

It worked every time never broke down.

Saturday mornings was the only time we kids were allowed to watch our family black&white TV......The Lone Ranger; Roy Rogers; Popeye; Audie Murphy westerns;and the Roadrunner cartoons. :p There were a few more but I suffer from CRS at the moment..........:bawling:

Boomer....who lost a lot of nickels betting that Wily Coyote would catch that darn Roadrunner.

That brings back my memory when I built a ski jump off the roof of the house and a ramp to be able to jump over the road. Just needed friends to stop cars or else. OUCH!

Did anybody else used to pop tar bubbles on a hot summer day:scorched: right out in the middle of a country road? We lived in the country!!!!!!!!In the winter all the neighbor buddies would build a snowman on the road and it would be there all day!! Thats how much traffic we didn't have around our neck of the woods.Remember playing cards in the spokes to sound cool. Tons of great times:farmer:

Man I miss those days. Tackle football in someone's back yard with no pads, swimming in Beaver Creek with the turtles and snakes, but no trunks, :innocent: rock climbing and caving with no ropes or other equipment, going fishing with $1 worth of equipment (4' of line a float, a hook and a stick for a rod), seeing who could climb to the very top of a tree without getting chicken, riding wheelies on bicycles and counting how many "pedals" we could go on the back wheel.

We built those wooden "go-carts" that we'd ride down the huge hill in the cow pasture across the road. No brakes and you had to steer with your feet.

We never had cell phones but each kid on our street had a car horn "Morse code" that meant to get home NOW! My 2 brothers and I had 2 long blasts on the horn and we'd better be home quick.

We built tree houses in the woods from scavenged lumber, and we always had a rope swing that would break and nearly kill whoever was on it at the time.

No wonder I have so many aches and pains now (40 years later).:)

Yeah, I remember only 3 TV stations.....and we actually had to WALK over to the TV to change the channel! :cool10:

You forgot the part about 'opening the window to reach out and tune the station in by turning the antenna pole. lol

And BTW, We only had one channel when we got our first TV. Luckily Wrestling came on it...

We had to go outside and turn TV antenna until Dad got some sort of thing that turned it automatically from some dial that sat on top of the TV. Sure was glad to see him get that thing cause I was getting sick of having to go outside and turn the antenna.

Remember the LP turntables that you could stack records on and it would play the stack automatically? It came with some sort of adaptor you could slide onto the center post and stack 45's to play automatically?
