Thanks for all the great suggestions folks. Can anyone tell me if the carb sync is covered by the warranty on these bikes. I'm relatively new to the venture world. I traded for this '05 RSVM in August. I traded an '03 Valkyrie for it and my previous ride before the Valk was an '01 Magna. Neither of them had vibration in the rear seat and the wife loved both.

I do not think it is covered as it is normal maintanance, but it is real easy to do if you have the correct tool.

Suggest getting to a meet and eat as someone will always have a carb tune handy. Then it is only 15 minutes work. Many members have the proper tools

I'm in San Angelo, TX. Are there any of these meet and eat events or helpful members in my area?

Just because you put on new tires I wouldn't necessarily rule them out as the source of the problem. Unless, of course if your wife had the same problem with the old tires....

Dang, I just rolled through San Angelo on the bike Saturday! I am in San Antonio and have a carb synch tool. As I recall it is easy enough to do even in a parking lot. Just need to have extra vaccum caps incase the old ones are cracked. Oh, check those critters as a leaker could cause an uneven running. Or, Tom in Blanco might be willing to help. Might be an easier run for you.

I know if you lug the engine like a old Harley, it will shake ya pretty hard,I aways shift down and keep the rpms up on mine, the v-4 loves rpm, they will run 3000 to 4000 rpms all day long and dont complain. :2cents:

Yeah, I figured out pretty quick that the feel of the engine is deceiving on this bike for rpms. It's been years since I owned a v-twin but the Magna and the Valkyrie (my last two bikes) had tachs on them so it's taken a little getting used to. But I do keep the rprms up and shift at the upper ranges. Like I posted on the other thread (I think) she even notices the vibration at 65 to 70 during acceleration or cruising. I think I probably need to get the carbs synced like most have suggested. It's got 25k on it and I just put new plugs in and checked the filters but it probably hasn't ever had the carbs synced since new. I am a professional mechanic, just don't have a lot of experience with motorcycle repairs. I'd like to do it myself. Any suggestions on a sync tool/guage?

Not hard to do real easy with a Car tune.

Just for info the speedo's are out about 7% so at 70 you are only running at about 65 mph. Also I assume it was in 5th. Go ahead and drop it to 4th and see if the vibration is different or disappears.

At that speed in 5th it is not lugging but is close.

Yeah, I checked the speed with my TomTom and with the cruise set on 70 the TomTom showed I was only doing 63.
