After that humiliating weekend 73 degrees Saturday with scoots everywhere. I have an idea. I been thinking about putting down a new sub floor in the old house kitchen probably a heavy 3/4 plywood.I got a wheel chair ramp to the side kitchen door see photo below.I use it for first gen maintenance at the camp works nice just ride up on it and drop the center stand.After loosing my A## in my retirement plan it looks like building a new house at the camp is way down the road. So I thought I would widen the front door enough to move the 84 in. Just think ride any time weather permits and don't have to worry about the creek. The 84 would be under lock and key. Hey it's a camp not a house. I just need to rearrange a few things to make room.Short ride to Skid's garage if I need to do some work.I just got one minor problem that might require your help. I got to talk MamaMo into it. Small problem right??? :think:

 

The last time I used the chainsaw to widen the side door on the barn she never forgot it. Hey I only added 4 feet.

Well maybe if you said someone was gonna help you widen the door she wouldn't be worried. I'm taking it that the widening last time didn't go smoothly? Other then that I don't see where she'd have a problem she'd get to ride too.

No it went real smooth. I fired up the chainsaw and zip zip zip I was done. Then she came home. I think maybe she can help plan this one.Like I said it's a camp someday just doze it over and start building .

I'd be a bit concerned about Exhaust and Fuel Fumes. They tend to stay exactly where you do not want them, on other Places they are gone within Minutes. Camp or not.

Hey Gerald, why dont you just build an 8x12 shed at the camp with 4ft doors and a plywood floor. Once your house is built you can always use it for something, and you will still have the camp and dry storage for the bike? Good practice for building the house too. Craig

I got two scoots and a four wheeler in there now...

A John Deere, two boats, and three trailers.

8x12 shed is not a bad idea. It's small enough I could build it on skids and move it to another spot later.

I've had that idea several times. And then I think " if I could do a 8 x 12 shed I could do a 12 x 16 shed.. I'm up to a 24 X 30 shed and still got none!! Hope that plan works better for you!!

I really think if you park the scoot inside as proposed, it would be awesome for MamaMo, she would be able to see at a glance if you were home, or out on a ride. Now she has to guess or go looking to see where you are or aren't and then have to come up with a conclusion as to whether you were or weren't or decide whether you come or gone, or conclude that your all gone and may not ever return. Knowing all that, she might just decide that it's better to keep you around for a day or two more and so allow you to keep the scoot where everybody can keep an eye out on it.

General Contractors stand point.

Remove all studs, resupport ceiling, open/widen doorway, big enough, for an electric garage door opener, on Garage door base, allow for ventilation, and also install an opening, on a 90 degree wall, for cross ventilation.

I don't no if you have this room heated? ( The vents will not allow this ) you'd be :mo money:out the window.

so when do you want us up there to help you, do this remodel job?

 

Oh, and you'd want to do this right (Permits)

I'm going down to the camp and take some measurements. I got a spot picked out just not sure what size shed will work there. Anybody got any poor boy shed plans? Might only get a Red roof inn.

I think my best bet for a large shed is to remodel the old tool shed already there. A new floor,new roof,and some new siding should make it good as new. Just need to cut out a 4 ft barn door.It's been there for 100 years but built out of 1 inch oak rough cut still got some life left.I was going to relocate it to the back yard for a lawn mower,atv, and chainsaw shed but a change of plans and less work.

I hope this helps you out alittle, toward a shed build

1. level ground & tamp dirt/set blocks as footers

2. depending on the height of the floor, add second blocks/mostly if grade is not level

3. follow steps on picture for base of sub-floor ( ad tie staps to all corners, to keep building square)

4.build into outter sub-floor/make sure form stays level

5.Build you walls lying down, tilt up and nail to floor ( make sure walls are plumb ) square the walls with a 3'X4'X5' measurement

6. add your door & widow opening/air vent holes/A/C box out/electrical box out/water pipe holes

7.double stub all door/windows openings

8.triple stud all corners of walls/re-inforce all corners with tie straps/#8 nails

9. install windows

10.figure pitch or roof/flat with2 inch rise/hip roof/ gable roof????

11. truss should over hang edges of walls, by 12 inches, for soffits (Airvents)(build in Fascia)

12.install sheathing 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch

13. lay felt paper

14. install drip strips at over hangs

15. lay shingles (Gable roof) install air cover to top, and apply shigles over top, for air flow (optional)

16. vertical walls are up to you. plywood/fake log cabin wood (Fau wood) also the insulation)

 

( If permit is needed) I'll walk you through it, Oh, and when are we (Venture Riders) coming over to help you build this new shed?

is you shed sitting on a slab? or dirt?

it may be easyer to knock it down and start over
