Naked Rider Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Posted December 28, 2008 anyone planning on riding on the 1st? went for a ride today high was 45 felt colder than that. only seen one other bike out besides mine.
Vance Posted December 29, 2008 #2 Posted December 29, 2008 Sorry, I don't plan on riding New Years day. I should be on a beach in Jamaica, scuba divin', sailin', snorkelin', sunnin', water skiin', and enjoying my favorite beverage.
Chuckles Posted December 29, 2008 #3 Posted December 29, 2008 I always ride on New Year's Day. Even if it's just around the block, I always ride. Supossed to be good luck. Has worked for me. Chuckles:rudolf:
rjmalizia Posted December 29, 2008 #4 Posted December 29, 2008 Sounds like a good 'New' tradition to me. I'll just have to where a snorkle. lol
Guest Shep Posted December 29, 2008 #5 Posted December 29, 2008 anyone planning on riding on the 1st? went for a ride today high was 45 felt colder than that. only seen one other bike out besides mine. Will be riding the 1st and the 2nd. Got an over-night trip planned. Fortunate for me - it will be in the mid 60's here in Phoenix and Tucson where we are headed..
sarges46 Posted December 29, 2008 #6 Posted December 29, 2008 Lmao! Thats a good one.....ride on new years day......I could only wish!
Mariner Fan Posted December 29, 2008 #7 Posted December 29, 2008 I have this week off and the next couple of days look favorable. The first is supposed to be cold but I might do it anyway just to say I did.
StuD Posted December 29, 2008 #8 Posted December 29, 2008 Yup... brother in law & I ride Jan 1. then he sends pics to his relitives that are snowed in. However we are snowed in at the present.....freaky weather...:canada:
Squidley Posted December 29, 2008 #9 Posted December 29, 2008 I try to every year, this year might not work out....but if the roads are dry and no salt, I'll fire the gal up
rod Posted December 29, 2008 #10 Posted December 29, 2008 I ride the last and the first day of the year. Haven't missed in years. Dress warm and ride safe Rod
slick97spirit Posted December 29, 2008 #11 Posted December 29, 2008 Hey naked rider, I rode old yeller in to Applebee's yesterday afternoon. Had to convince the wife that we should do that to test out the new Chatterbox headsets. She bout froze on the way home so I think 55 F will be our lowest temps in the future. Had fun tho. That baby just runs like a big dog on the interstate. Cruise works great, headsets make talking easy. I can hardly wait till we get some decent weather.
lonestarmedic Posted December 29, 2008 #12 Posted December 29, 2008 I and my cousin will be up early for the annual blessing of the bikes on New Year's Day. I don't know if it is a tradition elswhere, but in San Antonio all the clubs and independent bikes get together and say a prayer for a safe upcoming year. Then the pastors come around and bless the bikes and riders. Now I just need to remember to never ride faster than my angel can fly!! JB
awsmsrv Posted December 29, 2008 #13 Posted December 29, 2008 I ride the last and the first day of the year. Haven't missed in years. Dress warm and ride safe Rod Wow! That must be tough down there in San Diego. Do you look like the Michelin Man on a bike? Must have to really bundle up the layers & turn up the heated gear. Seriously though, I'm originally from SoCal & when it comes to riding, sure wish I were still there. My wife & I may be back down there come retirement. Fingers crossed. Enjoy.
Naked Rider Posted December 29, 2008 Author #14 Posted December 29, 2008 we also have a blessing of the bikes but its not till march or april

1BigDog Posted December 29, 2008 #16 Posted December 29, 2008 yep, ill be riding too......should be a frosty 70 here on Thurs......
Freebird Posted December 29, 2008 #17 Posted December 29, 2008 Well...I typically get at least a short ride in on the 1st...sort of a annual tradition for me. I'm going to miss it this year though because Eileen and I are going out of town for a few days leaving Wednesday. Today is our 14th wedding anniversary so we are going to celebrate it somewhere.
Vance Posted December 30, 2008 #18 Posted December 30, 2008 Congratulations on the Anniversary. Hope you two have a wonderful time together.
ibents Posted December 30, 2008 #19 Posted December 30, 2008 Rode today, quite a nice 8C, sunshine and dry roads most of the salt got washed away with all the rain over the last couple of days. Hope to ride New Years day but snow predicted for the next few days and lower temps, still will keep Ian PS, for you guys down in the sunshine states who seem to like teasing us with your cool 70 degree temps

OB-1 Posted December 30, 2008 #21 Posted December 30, 2008 I'd love to ride on the 1st, but closest I'll likely get is plowing snow on the ATV:snow:... At least it's got M/C plates!
Dano Posted December 30, 2008 #22 Posted December 30, 2008 I think I'll be able to squeeze something in, late afternoon, even if it's only 20 miles around the county.
