Bigfoot Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Posted December 28, 2008 First off let me apologize if this has been discussed at length in the past but I really don't feel like doing a search and trying to get all my questions answered. I keep my RSV in a detached garage which sits on the lowest part of my front yard. Due to this slope water will build up after a big rain on the concrete floor. My garage has so much stuff stored in it (small house) that I back the bike in and it has little space on either side of it. I'd like to get the bike off this floor during the non riding months and am looking for a decent (meaning not too expensive) bike stand for a RSV. I'll be putting the bike on the stand by myself so I need one where this works. Any suggestions? BTW. It's 68 degrees here which we rarely ever see at this time of year and I'm too sick to ride. This sucks.
Freebird Posted December 28, 2008 #2 Posted December 28, 2008 I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but in my opinion, the best solution is the Carbon_One Deluxe Lift Adapter with the legs. You will need a standard motorcycle lift first though. Then just put the adapter under the bike, lift it with a motorcycle lift, install the legs and then remove the lift. IF you have room on the sides to slide the lift under it to start with.
BEER30 Posted December 28, 2008 #3 Posted December 28, 2008 Years ago , many years ago , I was in same situation with no garage and dirt floor . When the snow melted or rained in Alaska , the water was up to my chain sprocket , either wet water or frozen ice . I built a re-enforced wooden box to drive my scoot up on . If not get some pallets and put several layers of plywood on top of them with a small ramp to get the scoot up on . BEER30
rjmalizia Posted December 28, 2008 #4 Posted December 28, 2008 I ended up buying the Sears ATV lift. if i remember correctly, it was only about $60. i then had a friend weld me up an adapter based on the plans that i found, somewhere on this site. (sorry don't remember just where though) good luck.
hale374 Posted December 28, 2008 #5 Posted December 28, 2008 Bigfoot, not sure what you're looking for, but there are a few options. Either get a cheap motorcyle/atv jack and use hockey pucks to get the clearance right, a centerstand or someone on here makes a jack adapter with it's own feet to lift the bike. I think it's Carbon One who makes the jack stand and it's for sale in the Classifieds section. If you let me know, I could stop by one day and help you out since I work at the Pentagon and just down the road from you.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted December 28, 2008 #6 Posted December 28, 2008 If you just need to raise it an inch or so to keep the tires out of the water, why not use a couple of 2x12 planks? A long one for the tires and a smaller piece for the kickstand. You can cut a nice angle on the approach side,(for riding it up forward, cuz backing up the angle might be hard to do by yourself), and coat the board with waterproofing and/or some texture paint. Cheap, easy, and wont involve a metal stand sitting in standing water for months at a time. ( not good! )....
raceman62race Posted December 28, 2008 #7 Posted December 28, 2008 I have a motorcycle/ATV jack and a home made adapter for a RSV. (don't let the word home made scare you, it works well) I ordered a lift table Friday from Complete Hydraulics. The lift table should be here Friday or so. If it works out like it should, I won't be needing the jack and adapter. If you pay for the shipping, you can have them. I don't know what shipping would be from GA.
ronhenry4 Posted December 28, 2008 #8 Posted December 28, 2008 i have the atv jack from harbor frieght its a inexspensive one about 80 buck but what i like most about it is it locks into place when raised so you dont have to worry about bleed off

Sounds like a plan. Just let me know. Some good suggestions overall in here.
flb_78 Posted December 29, 2008 #10 Posted December 29, 2008 One thing to think about is that Carbon One's adapter is actually attached to the bike. Much less chance of it sliding off in case of a jostle.

raceman62race Posted December 29, 2008 #12 Posted December 29, 2008 The adapter I made attaches to the bike via center stand mounts. Bigfoot....send me a PM with your address and I will see what I can do about a shipping price. The jack is fairly heavy so it may not be worth it. It locks into place so you don't have to worry about leak down. I think they can be purchased for about $60.00. May cost more to ship than a new one. If that is the case, you are still welcome to the adapter.
