raceman62race Posted December 15, 2008 #1 Posted December 15, 2008 Just wondering if anyone has a 1st generation charging stator that is burned up that I might be able to talk you out of? I have some ideas that I want to experiment with and I need an old burned up/damaged stator
Dano Posted December 16, 2008 #2 Posted December 16, 2008 I believe I still have one on the shelf. PM your addy and I'll send it to you. Dan

barend Posted December 16, 2008 #6 Posted December 16, 2008 Actually might be, we were talking about boosting output at the NE Ga. M&E. Now what ideas john has I have no idea!
raceman62race Posted December 17, 2008 Author #7 Posted December 17, 2008 I'm going to try to hand wind a stator for more output. Use to work in a electric motor shop winding electric motors. Going to give it a try but not making any promises.
BOO Posted December 18, 2008 #8 Posted December 18, 2008 I think I might have one also. Would have to look around at the shop a little bit but I did replace one a few years back and I don't remember throwing it away. Good luck wit the rewind, Jerry
scotty Posted December 18, 2008 #9 Posted December 18, 2008 I have one on the floor of the garage. New one just showed up today. You are welcome to it. Scotty
Dano Posted December 18, 2008 #10 Posted December 18, 2008 It's on it's way tomorrow. Dan If you need a test subject, just send it back when you're done!!
Squeeze Posted December 18, 2008 #11 Posted December 18, 2008 It's on it's way tomorrow. Dan If you need a test subject, just send it back when you're done!! Was that an Application as a Crash Test Dummy ?? :rotf: Not that i doubt raceman's Abilities, but as skinny as you are, i'd give that a second Thought !!
Dano Posted December 18, 2008 #12 Posted December 18, 2008 Naw, skinny enuff that I just pass through most solids........ Thinking of adding some warm gear, knowing my stator isn't up to snuff to handle the load. I have my driving lights on all the time when I'm riding, notice a HUGE drain while I'm stopped. Could be that cheap Interstate gell battery I bought instead of the Odyssey. I'm starting to think it won't hold a load without the stator charging full, even tho its 22 amp/hour.
raceman62race Posted December 21, 2008 Author #13 Posted December 21, 2008 I'll let yall know how I come out after I am finished and test one or two.....If I can't beef it up for more output, maybe I can rewind them stock for less than a new one costs....We'll see!! Danob11...thanks for sending me one!!
Dragonslayer Posted December 23, 2008 #14 Posted December 23, 2008 Just wondering if anyone has a 1st generation charging stator that is burned up that I might be able to talk you out of? I have some ideas that I want to experiment with and I need an old burned up/damaged statorI got one I just changed out a couple of months ago.
raceman62race Posted December 23, 2008 Author #15 Posted December 23, 2008 Just got one from danob11. At first glance, it looks like I will be able to rewind it stock no problem. I'll let you know if I can beef up the windings so it won't burn up as easy.
1BigDog Posted December 23, 2008 #16 Posted December 23, 2008 The higher output stators from Buckeye all need to be hard wired into place. From what I understand the higher output fries the plastic connector under the bike. I'd venture (pun intended) to say that any stator wired for more output needs to be hard wired in.
