I am looking for a light and compact half cover for the 2005 Midnight that folds up compact for use on some longer trips planned for next summer. Any suggestions on some good quality water proof half covers?

Thanks

I have a Ultra Guard half cover and it does a good job....folds into a bag approx 12"x8"x2" and is light. This is only pic I have of it.

I like the ones from here http://www.coveralls.biz/

Extremely light weight and rolls up nice and small. Also great for putting over the bike in the sun. They have even donated to our Eureka Springs rally.

I think any half cover made out of .75oz. rip-stop nylon will do the job. I'd never used a half before, but picked up one off Ebay by mistake... the seller stated it was a 'Venture' cover.... Used it on the Morro Bay VWIV ride this summer, and it did a great job, and it did rain for about an hour in the morning one of the days we were there. The thing is made by http://eztouring.com/ and is the traveler model. Stuffs into a very small sack. Great cover for overnight protection while away on a trip. And it's made in the USA!!.... I think?? :)

I use a grey UltraGuard large half cover also...it works great and packs small. It has the attached bungee that holds down the middle section also, which hooks up to the bike near the footboards, shift lever, brake lever area, and keeps the cover from flapping in the wind.

One advantage of half-covers, is that not only are they easy to pack on a long trip, but they do a good job of protecting a bike from UV when it has to be parked in full sun for hours at a time, and you can safely put a half cover on a bike when its still hot from riding.

Another advantage is that, at really LARGE bike rallies, and I'm talking about rallies like Sturgis, it makes it a lot easier to find your bike in a huge sea of parked bikes, if you put the cover on before you wander off into the masses. At the large rallies, sometimes you end up parking in large parking lots with literally thousands of bikes. Especially at night, with a black bike, or a dark red and black bike like my HD Ultra, it makes the bike easier to spot when you return. The cover is sure a lot easier to see from a hundred feet away!
