Ray.
tiny84 Posted July 7, 2007 #2 Posted July 7, 2007 I wonder how much a locksmith might charge to make a key for your bike? that would probly be easier to find
hipshot Posted July 7, 2007 #3 Posted July 7, 2007 i might be wrong, as far as your year model goes, but on my '86, one key does it all!i would remove the ign. and take it to a locksmith. have him re-key it, or make a key that will work ,just like the original. just jt
Yammer Dan Posted July 7, 2007 #4 Posted July 7, 2007 JT has it, one key fits all. Take Ignition off and take to locksmith.
bongobobny Posted July 7, 2007 #5 Posted July 7, 2007 You may also want to check with your local Stealership and see if they can come up with a key using the VIN or something like that. I know it's been done before on other models as long as you can prove ownership...
GigaWhiskey Posted July 7, 2007 #6 Posted July 7, 2007 NEway of getting the original key type? Getting tired of the old worn out non-yamaha key that I use.
Guest ray griffiths Posted July 18, 2007 #7 Posted July 18, 2007 thanks guys, i did just that. took the main ignition to a locksmith and presto, a key for the whole bike.Ray.
NLAlston Posted July 19, 2007 #8 Posted July 19, 2007 thanks guys, i did just that. took the main ignition to a locksmith and presto, a key for the whole bike.Ray. Hey Ray, I just ran across your post, and wish that I had caught it earlier. I also have an '83 VR, and would have been more than glad to have sent you a copy of my key. 'Glad that you got it straight anyway, though.

Guest venture777 Posted July 31, 2007 #10 Posted July 31, 2007 I wonder how much a locksmith might charge to make a key for your bike? that would probly be easier to find if you take the ignition switch off the bike it has the key code ## on it and a locksmith could make one w/ that number:080402gudl_prv:
Condor Posted August 1, 2007 #11 Posted August 1, 2007 if you take the ignition switch off the bike it has the key code ## on it and a locksmith could make one w/ that number:080402gudl_prv: Yep... Here's what anyone in the future should look for....
