Freebird Posted December 11, 2008 #1 Posted December 11, 2008 This is probably nothing and I don't want to overreact but feel it is better to be safe than sorry. There was a new ad posted in our classifieds this evening. Here is the link: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1567 I just want to urge everybody to be cautious. This is a member that just joined today and it was apparently just to post his ad because he hasn't posted anything else. He says that he works for a Yamaha dealer and probably does but I'm just a tiny bit suspicious because he doesn't know the year model of the bike he is listing. He says it is an '89 but Yamaha only offered that color in 1988. Not saying anything except to beware and verify carefully if you are interested in the bike.
Yammer Dan Posted December 11, 2008 #2 Posted December 11, 2008 Looks good. I don't have one of those.
Freebird Posted December 11, 2008 Author #3 Posted December 11, 2008 I did email the seller and got a response back from him. He told me that he works for a Yamaha dealer in Northrop, CO and that I could call to confirm. He also admitted that he typed the wrong year number. I feel a bit better about it now.

Ozark Posted December 11, 2008 #12 Posted December 11, 2008 That has to be the best color combination ever offered for the 1st gen venture. Man, it's almost as pretty as the 1st gen shown on the St. Judes ride thread.
Freebird Posted December 13, 2008 Author #13 Posted December 13, 2008 Well I'm certainly not looking for a first gen but if I were....the white '88 would be the one.
Yammer Dan Posted December 13, 2008 #14 Posted December 13, 2008 Well I'm certainly not looking for a first gen but if I were....the white '88 would be the one. Need for Speed???
Leland Posted December 13, 2008 #15 Posted December 13, 2008 I did email the seller and got a response back from him. He told me that he works for a Yamaha dealer in Northrop, CO and that I could call to confirm. He also admitted that he typed the wrong year number. I feel a bit better about it now. There is no "Northrop, CO" listed in the '07 Rand McNally road atlas.
pegscraper Posted December 13, 2008 #17 Posted December 13, 2008 There is no "Northrop, CO" listed in the '07 Rand McNally road atlas. There are lots and lots and lots of cities in Rand McNally's atlas that didn't make it into the index. Just two days ago the wife asked me to find Fulton, IN on the map. I go to look. Great, another one not in the index. I get to stare at the map until I find it. Oh there it is, on Rt 25 between Rochester and Logansport. I like their atlas, but the index leaves a little to be desired.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted December 13, 2008 #18 Posted December 13, 2008 Google it ! Yes I did... and CO is about the only state in the union that does not have a Nothrop as a city.... if you find Northtop st in Loveland CO you will find a very large chunk of vacant land. Come on guys,,,,, the man says cash only no certifide cheques....... shake the heads some..... send me cash I have a very very sexy bridge for sale..... no certifide cheques cash only......................

MAINEAC Posted December 13, 2008 #23 Posted December 13, 2008 The Dude lives in Buena Vista... I typed Buena Vista, CO Yamaha into Google Maps and there it was front and center... Google is pretty powerful if you know how to use it...
