I don't believe Sam Walton would be happy with the way Wal-Mart is being ran now. His motto was bring it home to the USA. Wal-Mart is now a giant faceless corporate entity.

They do bring low prices, but quality has suffered.

I don't like the fact that everything comes from China now. I think it's detrimental to our economy.

With that said, I do still shop at the Evil Empire because they do offer the lowest prices on the goods that I want and need.

I go where I can get the most for my dollar and Wal-Mart is one of the places I take my business. As far as a lot of their merchandise being imported, I guess the same argument could used for what kind of motorcycle we buy. Oh, wait a minute, that argument has been around for a long time. Now, back to our regular programing.

Are you serious?

as a heart attack. He yelled at me loud enough to get people 30 feet away looking at me.

I do a LOT of electrical and lighting maintenance for WM here in Indiana, you wouldn' t BELIEVE how much money their corporate people waste on stuff every year, it's comical sometimes! But I'll keep taking their money!

I used to work for a Hennessey Industries (makes Coates balancers and changers and Ammco brake lathes) repair center, and I found walmart to be the stingiest customers. They got a discount on the service calls, a discount on parts, and we had to be at the door with in 48 hours when they called. Kansas is a big place, and there are lots of walmarts, and lots of customers that got bumped for weeks because of walmart needing a hose clamp tightened. They always wanted "used" parts, which we didn't have, on the machines, and if it was something they had in store, they would make us buy their cheapo parts to install on their machine. We charged them back an extra 100%, and would not guarantee their parts.

90% of the calls were due to the changers kicking off rims. The customer woudl be pissed and sure walmart for the scratches, and I was called to fix the machine. Most of the time it was kicking rims because of a 5 gallon compressor with 300 feet of 3/8 pipe and a 15 foot coil hose supplying the changer. Minimum for running a 5050 was a 10 hp compressor on a 50 gal tank, with 2" supply line clear up to the machine. The thought of spending $5000 on a good compressor set up got the same response as open heart surgery with no anesthetic.

In contrast, Sears never had a problem spending money. But they got grumpy if you went to teh same store more than once every 6 months.

sure we are getting stuff cheap from there....as well as lots of minimum wage jobs. the people that loose better paying jobs from the competition have to work somewhere, for a living. we can all cheer wallmart now, for providing cheap foreign goods to the north american consumer. but wait till all the competition is gone. then the monster is going to turn around and take a chunk off our rear end. and we will have nowhere else to run to.

solution...? no...i dont have one. hopefully i will be dead by then, and leave the worrying to others.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.

oh, and for christmas gifts....visit your local WALLMART STORE.:mo money:

No, my point is not to beat on anything, or on anyone. I just thought the stats were a little astounding to me, or at least surprising. If you want to take that in some other direction, feel free.

Cheers,

No I don't want to take this in some other direction... I was trying to find out what direction you were going... Nevermind

I think we have a couple of Venturerider members that drive for Walmart. Tom might be able to give us an Idea how they treat their drivers.

I work a week on/week off schedule with them driving and I know people have their views on Wal Mart but it is without a doubt the best company I have ever worked for.Yes we all see wasteful,or what we think is wasteful spending, but I am VERY satisfied. Tom

Good for you. If your hapy with your job and like the company you are working for that is great. Bet there is a lot of others that wish they can say that. I can not say everyday I ove my job that is for sure.

Rhonda had an excellent job at a Nursing home, full time, days, and decent money but hated the co-workers, was not happy. She quit went back to Factory work and came home happy again.
