lesman Posted July 6, 2007 #1 Posted July 6, 2007 I have a 2006 Black Cherry. Can anyone tell me what should be done by the dealer on the 8000 mile check up?
Sleeperhawk Posted July 7, 2007 #2 Posted July 7, 2007 Nothing, do your own work Really, I did do my own work.
firefly Posted July 7, 2007 #3 Posted July 7, 2007 Can't say for sure but think the owners manual list what they check. Mine will be due for the 4,000 mile check on our way back from Nashville, TN in August. Getting it done in Nashville, IL. Seeing both Nashville's in the same day!
noahzark Posted July 7, 2007 #4 Posted July 7, 2007 I have a 2006 Black Cherry. Can anyone tell me what should be done by the dealer on the 8000 mile check up? Ask 'em, they'll print out a list for you with all the mileage checkups. (If not, find a new dealer.) noahzark
50btripn Posted July 7, 2007 #5 Posted July 7, 2007 According to the service manual: Replace Spark Plugs Check Crankcase Ventilation System Check Fuel Line Check Exhaust System Check Carburator Synchronization Check Idle Speed Change Oil and Filter Clean Air Filter; Replace if Necessary Check Cooling System Check Brake System Check Clutch Check Final Gear Oil Check Control Cable Check Rear Arm Pivot Bearing Check Brake/Clutch Lever Pivot Shaft Check Brake Pedal and Shift Pedal Shaft Check Sidestand Pivot and Switch Check Front Forks and Steering Bearings Check Wheel BearingsSounds like a lot of $$$$ from the stealership.
trandeod Posted August 9, 2007 #6 Posted August 9, 2007 Does anyone have any idea what the cost of the 8000 mile checkup might be?
V7Goose Posted August 9, 2007 #7 Posted August 9, 2007 I have a 2006 Black Cherry. Can anyone tell me what should be done by the dealer on the 8000 mile check up? It's all in the owner's manual. Just open it up and look. Goose
Jerry W Posted August 9, 2007 #8 Posted August 9, 2007 I asked the dealership in Amarillo what they charged for the 4,000 mile check and they said to just wait until I had 6,000 miles and bring it in then and they would do it for $70 plus parts and that would include balancing the carbs.
RCyrPE Posted August 9, 2007 #9 Posted August 9, 2007 I just had my 8,000 mile service done up here in New Haven, CT. The cost was about $230.
debelt Posted August 9, 2007 #10 Posted August 9, 2007 I skipped the 4k service since it looked like a lot of check this, check that. I started running Mobil 1 synthetic at 2,400 miles and will change it again myself at 6k miles before my Yellowstone ride. But I'll definitely take it in to the dealer for the 8k service. Not much of a wrench, but I can do oil changes and for what the dealer charges for oil (synthetic ain't cheap $9/Qt.) and filters it saves a lot.
Eugene Posted August 9, 2007 #11 Posted August 9, 2007 Does anyone have any idea what the cost of the 8000 mile checkup might be? Just had mine done (Ont, Canada) and it came to $120.00 (that includes our illustrious 14% taxes) - sooooooo - not too bad for a couple of hours in the shop. ps - the Can/US dollars are pretty close right now.
