Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted December 8, 2008 #1 Posted December 8, 2008 My grandmother’s favorite song was Amazing Grace and every time I hear the song, my heart fills with her love. I wanted to share this with you so that you too may feel the love of our Lord in your hearts. May God bless all of you, Bobbie [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtrnB4FZ-yc]YouTube - Il Divo - Amazing Grace[/ame]
Iowawegian Posted December 8, 2008 #2 Posted December 8, 2008 Well, I hope nobody comes into my office till I can put myself back together. That is a beautiful rendition. Don't tell Tartan Terror, but there's just something amazing in the sound of bag pipes isn't there?(Don't want him to get a big head and all.....but I think it would be fun to have a little of his music on here to listen to)
Sling Posted December 8, 2008 #3 Posted December 8, 2008 Bad day today, how did you know?.. Thank you I needed this..
Freebird Posted December 8, 2008 #5 Posted December 8, 2008 WOW.....maybe the best rendition I've ever heard of one of the greatest songs of all time.
Grandpagak Posted December 8, 2008 #6 Posted December 8, 2008 you gotta love it.. its one of my all time favorites.. along with ten thousand angels, and how great thou art... thanx
cecdoo Posted December 8, 2008 #7 Posted December 8, 2008 Beautifully Done, Thanks. My favorite is "Time to Say Goodbye" by Andre Bocelli and Sara Brightman, has a very special meaning to me. Craig
Bigfoot Posted December 9, 2008 #8 Posted December 9, 2008 Thanks for this rendition. Stunning to say the least. I grew up singing this song and admiring this song and it's always been a favorite. I've been to many funerals of police officers killed in the line of duty where this is usually played on bagpipes. You won't find a dry eye around when this is done. I also love the rendition sung by the Statler Brothers.
1rooster Posted December 9, 2008 #9 Posted December 9, 2008 That was great. Here is one I really like. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WknARwAD7hI&feature=related]YouTube - Hunting McLeod[/ame] Do you recognize anyone in the video?
Black Owl Posted December 9, 2008 #10 Posted December 9, 2008 A beautiful piece. I guess we all have our favorite rendition of it which transports us back to another time and place. My version was done by Judy Collins, but id does bring back some hard memories. Back in another life when I was doing MedEvac, I would have it playing over the loudspeaker when we dropped in. Just our way of letting the guys know we were coming to get them.
Rottdoglover Posted December 9, 2008 #11 Posted December 9, 2008 Thank You. If the powerful voices and haunting sounds of the pipes don't touch your soul, I don't know what would.
M61A1MECH Posted December 9, 2008 #12 Posted December 9, 2008 One of my most favorite hymns, I really like the rendition done by the BLIND BOYS FROM ALABAMA, maybe not to everyone's liking but I like it. Wolfie Posted December 9, 2008 #13 Posted December 9, 2008 That was awesome Bobbie, anyone know how to save it to my Zune (MP3)? That caused goose bumps. Thanks for sharing. Do ya know if they have done "I'll Fly Away"? :2132::2132:
Yammer Dan Posted December 9, 2008 #14 Posted December 9, 2008 Thanks Bobbie. Started my morning off right.
kenw Posted December 9, 2008 #15 Posted December 9, 2008 AWsum! Thanks for sharing. A haunting song no matter how its played!
Guest texasyamahamama Posted December 9, 2008 #16 Posted December 9, 2008 That is one of the most beautiful and touching hymns ever. Especially when you think that the author, John Newton, was a repentant slave trader. Thank you for posting. I'll be looking for the CD this weekend. Jackie
Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted December 9, 2008 Author #17 Posted December 9, 2008 That is one of the most beautiful and touching hymns ever. Especially when you think that the author, John Newton, was a repentant slave trader. Thank you for posting. I'll be looking for the CD this weekend. Jackie This is by far my most favorite! I found the CD on Amazon.com - Search for "The Promise" by IL Divo. It is on sale for $9.99! Maybe Santa might get this CD for me for Christmas! For the opening of my son's Eagle Scout Ceremony (he earned his Eagle Scout at the age of 12), we chose the bagpipe version of Amazing Grace and the closing song was Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Medler. (But certainly not the video that is shown here!!!! But needless to say, it took all I had not to break down and cry). [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El-C3w4CYqo]YouTube - Wind Beneath My Wings[/ame] Ride safe, Bobbie
Freebird Posted December 9, 2008 #18 Posted December 9, 2008 That's a beautiful song Bobbie. My wife would break down if I showed it to her. As you know, here sister passed away a couple of years ago and that song and the movie "Beaches" were their favorites. It is really hard for her to hear now.
Squidley Posted December 9, 2008 #19 Posted December 9, 2008 Wow! Can you even imagine being in the colosseum and hearing that, the acoustics would just grab you by the throat. What an outstanding version of that song, I never have a dry eye when I listen to it or the star spangled banner....Thanks Bobbie
