BOO Posted January 1, 2009 #26 Posted January 1, 2009 Middle of July looks pretty clear also. Week of July 15th and July 22 seem to be open and couple weeks away from other events. I can probably work it out in the April/May thing also. Jerry
99silver Posted January 1, 2009 #27 Posted January 1, 2009 I don't know if we can make it, but last year was great. If you build it they will come, it was one of the most beautiful places we have been. We usually only get to do one event ( long distance ) and a couple of shorter ones each year. I'll give it two thumbs -up !! Gary
mini-muffin Posted January 1, 2009 #28 Posted January 1, 2009 Maybe we should pick a couple of weekends and post a poll or something to get an idea on how many would be able to make it. I'll leave that to one of you folks to do. Just need to pick weekends. The two in July would be good and any after Easter I guess. Lets get a couple of choices up folks. Margaret
MamaMo Posted January 2, 2009 #29 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) May 15-17 July 10-12 July 17-18 Looks like good weekends for us and they are currently open on the rally calendar. I personally like July. The other two weekends in July are Birthdays and Family reunion for us. June is Don's and Skid In, Aug is International and Vogel. Edited January 2, 2009 by MamaMo
Venturous Randy Posted January 2, 2009 Author #30 Posted January 2, 2009 I was thinking about the July 18-19 weekend. That's after the middle of the month payday and works best for me. I would probably want to be there on Wed the 15th. RandyA
Rottdoglover Posted January 2, 2009 #31 Posted January 2, 2009 Sounds like fun. Will try to make it. How many (bikes) did you have attend last year?
mini-muffin Posted January 2, 2009 #32 Posted January 2, 2009 Gee I can't remember how many bikes we had. I know it was around 30 or so. Someone must have counted. You can check out the pics here. It's the link to the pic folder with the pics we all took. You can count the bikes it you want to. Margaret
Yammer Dan Posted January 2, 2009 #33 Posted January 2, 2009 All the teasing I do on here she ignores. But those pics on the way home I'm still trying to explain!! Would would have thunk. I think I've almost talked her out of that one. Wonder what I can do next?? If we get there I'm sure I can think of something!!!
mini-muffin Posted January 2, 2009 #34 Posted January 2, 2009 Sorry Dan. Didn't mean to get you in trouble again. I guess we'll chat about this possible deal in Asheville this weekend at our meet. We should come up with some time period that will work. If we do it before June it gets a bit chilly at night, but I'm sure we can figure out how to keep warm. Margaret
Yammer Dan Posted January 2, 2009 #35 Posted January 2, 2009 Sorry Dan. Didn't mean to get you in trouble again. I guess we'll chat about this possible deal in Asheville this weekend at our meet. Margaret Oh Yeah I'm sure she is going to like that!!:rotfl:
Skid Posted January 2, 2009 #36 Posted January 2, 2009 I'm not sure how much vacation I can take between June and August, but we're keeping watch.... We enjoyed the campground last year and wouldn't mind to get back. If not, I'll see everyone at Vogel!
BOO Posted January 2, 2009 #37 Posted January 2, 2009 I really like the July dates more than the May date, it may get a bit chilly in NC in May but it gets damn chilly some days or nights here in Illinois. My wife has to turn her vacation dates in on Monday so if you could make a decision this weekend that would be great. Most important is a date that works for the most people or the people doing all the work. Jerry
FROG MAN Posted January 4, 2009 #38 Posted January 4, 2009 Any update on the plans. I got to meet with the boss and see if I can get off. They don't like us taking vacation days less then a week at a time.
mini-muffin Posted January 4, 2009 #39 Posted January 4, 2009 How about the 2nd weekend of July? That would be the 10, 11, 12 (friday - sunday) unless you all want to start earlier in the week. The third weekend that month WNY is having a meet so don't want to interfere with the one Big Tom is planning. Let me know what you all think. Margaret
mini-muffin Posted January 4, 2009 #41 Posted January 4, 2009 Looks like it might be you Ramona, Jeff and myself at this rate. Anyone else like to make this event. I guess I'll wait till a few more folks post before making any arrangements with the KOA and Motel. Margaret
painterman67 Posted January 4, 2009 #42 Posted January 4, 2009 What dates are you considering? If it falls at the wright time the wife and myself would love to come. David
MamaMo Posted January 4, 2009 #43 Posted January 4, 2009 July 10, 11, 12 is fine with us. Need to get the date set. Would like to turn in Vacation dates this week.
BOO Posted January 4, 2009 #44 Posted January 4, 2009 Jane has to turn her vacation time in tomorrow. We have the book home now and it looks as if that weekend might be a problem. The person that has to go into the courtroom when she is away is getting married and will be gone July 6 through 10. Only good thing is not much goes on in the courtrooms on Friday's. We will know for sure tomorrow evening. Not the end of the world if we don't make it. Jerry
Venturous Randy Posted January 5, 2009 Author #45 Posted January 5, 2009 I still like the third weekend in July, but it really does not matter to me. I was hoping we could do this without interfereing with another rally, so I am flexible as of now. It is not uncommon for companies to insist that their employees put their vacation in the first week in January. I am supposed to give two weeks notice for my vacation, so I guess I am lucky. RandyA
1rooster Posted January 5, 2009 #46 Posted January 5, 2009 Guess I need to put in for my vacation since it is such a looooooooooong ride for me to get there.Depending on traffic it could take me as long as 20 minutes to get there.
Yammer Dan Posted January 5, 2009 #47 Posted January 5, 2009 I just have to turn mine in Jan. Things should be settled by then.
Venturous Randy Posted May 9, 2009 Author #48 Posted May 9, 2009 Bump!!!!! Laura and I discussed during dinner about going over to KOA Sunday and seeing what we can set up for July 10/12 weekend. I would love to be able to get everyone around the pond like we did last year. We had sites from about 19 thru 25 or so. And, since these sites are so big, it would not be a problem to put a tent or two extra on each site. Last year I wanted site #22 as it had a perfect place for my little camper and was told it was reserved. No one ever did show up to take it unless they drove by and decided they did not want to be in the middle if that bunch. Anyone want to let us know how many sites we may need? My only concern is this will be the week that ties into July 4th weekend and I hope we are not too late to get what we want. RandyA
Venturous Randy Posted July 8, 2009 Author #49 Posted July 8, 2009 I just pulled up the original post on Asheville and saw I posted it on December 7th of last year. I also noted I was just trying to get thru the PMS and the temp was 25º below normal. Well, it is finally here and we will be leaving out in the morning. I hope everyone that is coming will have a safe trip and have a great time. Now if I could just get to sleep. RandyA
