Raiki Posted December 6, 2008 #1 Posted December 6, 2008 when i ride last time its was ok but doday they not working... van anywone give me some tips what must i chek and where? i´mnew with this bike
skydoc_17 Posted December 6, 2008 #2 Posted December 6, 2008 Hi Raiki, If only one turn signal is not working then remove the lens cover and replace the bulb. If none of them is working, then I would check the turn signal fuse located under the false gas tank cover, on top of the battery. With a phillips head screw driver remove the black cover of the fuse box, the backside of the cover has a list of which fuse does what, find the fuse for the signal lights. On my 87' it is the second fuse from the bottom marked "SIGNAL" and is a 20 amp fuse. If the fuse is blown, replace it. If it is not blown, remove it, clean it, put a bit of dielectric grease on the ends and replace it. If there are still no turn signals I would check the turn signal switch on the handlebars, Remove switch cover, clean with contact cleaner, put a bit of dielectric grease on the contacts and reassemble. Hope this helps, Earl
mbrood Posted December 6, 2008 #3 Posted December 6, 2008 If the fuse is good, you might "cycle" the emergency flasher switch a few times to (a) see that they work and (b) see if that clears it up. If you pull the front, right turn signal you can get to the connector for that switch... could be it needs some cleaning and dioalectric grease applied. Also a dandy place to check voltages. http://bergall.org/temp/venture/hazard.jpg

Raiki Posted December 13, 2008 Author #6 Posted December 13, 2008 fuse and switch is ok but not one of lamps not plinking
GeorgeS Posted December 15, 2008 #7 Posted December 15, 2008 If-- the Emergency Flasher Switch is sitting " between " On and off, then Neither system is working. the Emergency Flasher switch MUST be in the OFF position to get voltage to the turn signal system. The Main, Flasher Unit, is located behing the Headlight assembly, Remove head light, and look in the area, UP, and just left of headlight center line. It the larger of 5 relays. there. Pull it out, remove plug, and clean the contacts. Might be dirty. Also, follow the Cable " From " the flasher unit, to a Plug, with 8 wires going thru it. ( not sure of color ) Voltage for the Signal system comes thru this plug, from the Emrg, Flasher switch. there might be a dirty connection in this plug. ( left field, but maby ) See page 7-41 block diagram, service manual. For further trouble shooting.
Raiki Posted December 15, 2008 Author #8 Posted December 15, 2008 i allready checked thisa Emergency Flasher switch nothing... but i was making some extras - i was cuting on this Emergency Flasher and raplaced this sigarette lighter - Emergency Flashers was dont working when i get this bike
Squidley Posted December 15, 2008 #9 Posted December 15, 2008 I think that I would start looking for a grounded out wire, or the flasher relay. I know we'll get some others to chime in as long as we keep this up top
