Albino Rhino Posted December 5, 2008 #2 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks, Jack! I'm looking; if Marietta needs an avionics tech or tech writer for avionics, I can submit a great resume.
royalstarjac Posted December 5, 2008 Author #3 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks, Jack! I'm looking; if Marietta needs an avionics tech or tech writer for avionics, I can submit a great resume. Great Mike! C-130 is getting ready to triple production in the next year. We are also getting some F 35 work from Ft Worth and the F 22 has a few years left at least. More if they let us take some foriegn orders. The Japanese and Israellis want it bad! Email me a resume and I will forward it to them with my referral.-Jack
bongobobny Posted December 5, 2008 #4 Posted December 5, 2008 Hmmmm, if I didn't have such a nice job here at Moog supplying you guys with flight control parts, I'd consider relocating where it's warmer! Besides, I retire in less than five years anyway...
Older... Posted December 6, 2008 #5 Posted December 6, 2008 Sounds great, thanks for the heads up to those looking. But for me, I probably belong with the dinosaurs as my avionics specialties were with the F-14 aircraft, AWG-9, AWG-15, etc. And at my age I'm almost retired. Probably should be already if I was smarter...
GeorgeS Posted December 6, 2008 #6 Posted December 6, 2008 Boeing is have a very hard time finding Assembly line people. Especially anybody with some years of experience, Aircraft Maintenance, who holds and AirFrame, and Powerplants Licence. All assembly lines, at Renton, and Mainly Everett Washington. If qualified, apply thru the MAINE EMPLOYMENT OFFICE IN CHICAGO>
royalstarjac Posted December 6, 2008 Author #7 Posted December 6, 2008 Sounds great, thanks for the heads up to those looking. But for me, I probably belong with the dinosaurs as my avionics specialties were with the F-14 aircraft, AWG-9, AWG-15, etc. And at my age I'm almost retired. Probably should be already if I was smarter... Old experience is a lot better than no experience which is what most young people have today. 70% of the engineers and skilled workers in aerospace will reach retirement age in the next 5 yrs. In aerospace the problem isn't lack of work it's lack of workers!-Jack
M61A1MECH Posted December 6, 2008 #8 Posted December 6, 2008 Hey Jack I know there are lots of folks working in Marrietta, but would you know my old buddy Marc Eaton? He has been with you guys as an aircraft electrician since the mid 80's, we worked together in Saudi Arabia for the now defunct McConnell Douglas Services company. Just curious.
royalstarjac Posted December 8, 2008 Author #9 Posted December 8, 2008 Sorry Steve, I don't know him.-Jack
Squidley Posted December 8, 2008 #10 Posted December 8, 2008 It's unfortunate that I couldn't further my Airframes career after I got out of the service in '91. I really enjoyed that kind of work and now it could have taken me down south...good of you to post that info up

royalstarjac Posted December 8, 2008 Author #13 Posted December 8, 2008 Found this last week... Rolls Royce (Engine Manufaturer) - announcing a major lay off...see attachment. "787" and "Airbus 380" and other major aircraft manufacturing companies ... Not really sure what this has to do with the title or intention of this thread.-Jack
Eck Posted December 8, 2008 #14 Posted December 8, 2008 Not really sure what this has to do with the title or intention of this thread.-Jack Well Jack, I guess I was thinking it might have to do with a possible "dommino effect".. Aircraft engine manufactureer has a big lay off, aircraft manufacturing companies that use these engines cant get them, so they need to lay folks off, and with out engines there is less of a need for aircraft mechanics... Guess I was thinking out of the box.....I'll just go back in and be quiet... Sorry if it didnt make any sence.
Venturous Randy Posted December 8, 2008 #15 Posted December 8, 2008 It's unfortunate that I couldn't further my Airframes career after I got out of the service in '91. I really enjoyed that kind of work and now it could have taken me down south...good of you to post that info up Squidley, you are like me, I loved being around aircraft and spent four years in the USAF, but working on aircraft usually requires crawling up into some small holes, and I don't think either one of us would be good at that. royalstarjac Posted December 8, 2008 Author #16 Posted December 8, 2008 Well Jack, I guess I was thinking it might have to do with a possible "dommino effect".. If I'm not mistaken the dominoes usually fall the other way. Aircraft company has orders for aircraft, orders parts including engines, engine manufactuer hires workers to fill orders... Lockheed learned it's lesson in the '70s when Rolls Royce almost put us out of business. We get our engines from Pratt & Whitney and GE. Besides, I started this thread to help folks who might be looking for employment in this down economy. If you follow the link to the Lockheed web page you will see hundreds of jobs available. I don't see what Rolls Royce has to do with that. Maybe you should start a thread entitled "Rolls Royce announces layoffs" -Jack:Im not listening to
Eck Posted December 8, 2008 #17 Posted December 8, 2008 Not sure what part of my last appology was misunderstood Jack Please, let me try one more time. Jack, I am sorry if I posted something in "your thread" that didnt make sence to you or anyone else. My intent was not to hi-jack your thread at all. I "tucked my tail" in shame two posts ago with my first appology, when I said: Sorry if it didnt make any sence. I certainly hope you can find in in your heart to find my second appology acceptable.
Freebird Posted December 8, 2008 #18 Posted December 8, 2008 I agree and I think there is some attitude here that is misplaced. Geeezzz......the job postings are appreciated by many I'm sure but many times such threads lead to various input. I'm thinking it's going to be a LONG winter.
