85 venture royal thruster washer re: second gear

I understand that "up to a certain model number" there was a factory authorized replacement thruster washer to solve certain 2nd gear issues. Does anyone know what was the relevant number ? I am assuming that bikes manufactured after that particular number would have had the "hard" washer factory installed.

I am not sure of the number but am sure that it was mid year 1985 when the change was made.

The 2nd gear problem was fixed in 1985 after serial number 0001413

Are you looking to buy a Venture? The 2nd gear repair is within the realm of backyard mechanics and there is lots of information here on how to do it. I did mine last winter and it is awesome to have it and not be afraid to use it. I like to get up to speed fast and didn't enjoy skipping 2nd.
