Iowawegian Posted December 3, 2008 #1 Posted December 3, 2008 Things have been a little crazy here at work. Haven't been able to spend much time on the site. Did anyone pick a date for the Jan meet n eat in Clear Lake IA?
Black Owl Posted December 5, 2008 #2 Posted December 5, 2008 Guess everyone is too busy to set a date right now. Don't know about the rest, but Jan 3 or the 10th would work well for me. Just a thought... http://www.postsmile.com/img/winter/22.gif http://www.postsmile.com/img/winter/27.gif
celling Posted December 5, 2008 #3 Posted December 5, 2008 The last time I seen anything the talk was the 10th or 17th of January in Clear Lake or Waterloo. If we can decide on a place that is good for everyone I don't think that a time will be to much of an issue, it does not have to be January. There is a lot of winter left I am sure there is a time that will work for everyone. Is there a way that we can find out how many are going to try to make it. Then try to make the M&E location so its big enough for everyone and about the same drive for everyone. Maybe a place that has a buffet would work. Then talk about time mine is flexible, work and weather is the only problem. Work may not be an issue if thing slow up anymore. The talk was for Saturday afternoon I think Sunday afternoon may also work. This is just my two cents worth but I would sure like to meet other riders in Iowa with different ideas and maybe rides.
bryan52577 Posted December 6, 2008 #4 Posted December 6, 2008 I would like to meet other riders too. I think it was said that after the Holidays it would be better for some (for me too) so that is why I may have suggested January. But if we have one in January that doesn't mean we couldn't do it again in February and / or March:lightbulb: ? We could hold one in Clear Lake and get some of the Minnesota riders to join us. Then the next month maybe have one closer to Illinois and get some of them to come too? Sorry I don't want to ride the bike in the snow and crap so to me it would be great to meet and maybe do a little planning for summer? As for Sunday that would be OK too, but it would take away maybe a "weekend getaway" for someone having cabin fever? The Clear Lake one I was planning on just spending the night up there and drive home Sunday, maybe see some sights, drive some different roads? My long range weather forecast thingy only goes to January 3rd right now, and has a small chance of snow then. As for date what about the 10th of January at the "Other Place" that Iowawegian suggested? Cerbius, Cherberus oh heck the biker formally known as Black Owl:stickpoke: says Iowawegian may get ejected from anyplace else.
Black Owl Posted December 6, 2008 #5 Posted December 6, 2008 Brian, I think your idea of moving the Meet and Greet around to different locations in Iowa is superb. As you state, that would give outstaters and opportunity to get together with the folks from Iowa. I was half joking when I suggested Clear Lake as a location because it would have been very easy for me, and your other norther neighbours to drop down and say hello. With 61 members in Iowa, I suspect that even if it was held someplace other than the "other place" that enough folks would show up to keep Iowawegian out of too much trouble. But, as she is already an outlaw (riding a Virago) that could turn out to be a full time job. The 10th works for me. No sure if a Sunday get to gather would be a wise choice as it would cut into some folks church time. Just my thoughts....
bryan52577 Posted December 6, 2008 #6 Posted December 6, 2008 Hello all!!! Well we been shooting this around for a while now with no date so, since I started this whole thing a while back, lets make the " Northern Iowa Meet & Eat" (with our neighbors to the north this time, if they behave,,,,,NOT). At > "The Other Place" 200 Highway 18 W., Clear Lake, Iowa 50428 (641)357-8118 January 10th at 1:00pm Looks to be a Pizza/Pasta style place with BEER! "Got the info off the internet so Iowawegian if I got the address or name wrong let us know?" I think 1:00pm will give us more room if needed as the "Lunch" rush crowd will be thinning out, and for anyone coming from any distance they will have time to get there. Anyone is welcome to come no mater what or even if you ride. I want to meet & put a face to some people that I see & read about on here. So if that is you come on up, down, over, oh just come to the "Other Place on the 10th of January in Clear Lake Iowa for some talk and fun with friends!!! HOPE WE GET SOME FRIENDS TO SHOW!!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!!! Bryan
Black Owl Posted December 7, 2008 #8 Posted December 7, 2008 See you folks on the 10th... And I will bring the professional restraints to make sure certain folk stay in line.....

Blusees Posted March 15, 2009 #11 Posted March 15, 2009 I know, I know!!!!! The last year was like a BLUR! Buying the house, having so many pottery orders, doing all the upkeep that the yard and the house required! The prior owners were pretty lazy.... But I'm feeling good about where I'm sitting now, and will be able to enjoy gardening, pottery, AND riding the bike this year! Today is actually my one year anniversary of buying the house!

We just figured you didn't luv us any more. Either that or you didn't want anyone messing with your new ride...... BTW: we never got invited to the house warming either......
