Guest Swifty Posted December 1, 2008 #1 Posted December 1, 2008 At a recent biker-type party I attended, a conversation was over heard that discussed the possibility of Swifty riding a second generation Venture, probably in light of a recent '07 deal for $10K. Someone said Swifty would never be happy with a bike like that because he couldn't ride the twisties like he does now. Then someone suggested that there are plenty of second generation Venture riders out there who could easily keep up with Swifty in the twisties. Whaddya think? Is it the bike or the rider...or the alcohol?
Marcarl Posted December 1, 2008 #3 Posted December 1, 2008 But then you only heard the conversations you were involved in, I happened to be elsewhere and I'll not spread any rumors,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
BEER30 Posted December 1, 2008 #4 Posted December 1, 2008 So .....you 1st gen'rs are saying it's all talk , or the alcohol ? Humm , still cannot make up your minds ? BEER30
BradT Posted December 1, 2008 #5 Posted December 1, 2008 I am sure there is a couple down south that would give it a run. You are gonna have to wait for about 6-7 months to find out. Did one of Ladies hit a nerve Brad

Is it the bike or the rider...or the alcohol? Ya know Swifty, that bad Habit of abusing Alcohol makes them 2Genner always feel faster than Light Speed, but it's mostly only during the Talking. On the Next Day, what remains is the Memory of a good Time and a speaking of fast Bikes.
Eck Posted December 1, 2008 #8 Posted December 1, 2008 Well Swifty, I must say the riders level of courage and skills including the bikes handling capabilities play a large part on how a bike is controlled wether on a straight away or in twisties. I am sure if a bet was placed between us, you would win... I mean hell, I cant even keep up with a UPS truck, so I know I dont have a chance against you..
Brake Pad Posted December 1, 2008 #9 Posted December 1, 2008 being from south Florida, we have no twisties, but on a recent trip to the Ozarks, and pulling my trailer mind you. I stayed with out pack, running from "The Hub" down to little Rock Ark. Now, while there. I did the road from the Hub, (?) Rt 41 down to the cliffside inn eatery, multi-times, and had a blast:thumbsup:
Yama Mama Posted December 1, 2008 #10 Posted December 1, 2008 Personally, I do not think you should consume alcohol while riding the twisties. Our rule is to have a drink while you wait for the First Gens to catch up. What am I saying? I think I missed the point. Yama Mama:beersign:

LOL...you won't believe this Eck, but in that very same conversation YOUR name was one rider that was suggested who might be able to keep up with me in the twisties...I laughed my Kahlua laden face off when I heard that!! ...remembering, or course, that when I lead a group through the twisties...in the rain....we get to the bottom of the pass AFTER passing THAT same UPS truck, we get off our bikes, we grab our cameras and STILL have time to set up a self-timed picture BEFORE the truck reaches us!!

I'm not wanting to hijack the thread, but where was that photo taken?
Eck Posted December 1, 2008 #14 Posted December 1, 2008 I'm not wanting to hijack the thread, but where was that photo taken? It sure wasnt in northern Ga near Helen where I tried to catch my UPS truck... Swifty, I'd give it one heck of a try to keep up with you anytime......but like I said, Im certain it would be you that would win..but I dont think you would have time to set up for a camera shot waiting on me to catch up..
FJR Rider Posted December 1, 2008 #16 Posted December 1, 2008 Do I hear a challenge? Can I pick the road here in WI? I'll even give you head start. Do you want me to carry a passenger as well to even things up? Or would having my Bushtec Roadstar in tow make it even enough? (I am talking the RSV and not the FJR). Curt
Guest Swifty Posted December 1, 2008 #17 Posted December 1, 2008 Do I hear a challenge? YES Can I pick the road here in WI? SURE I'll even give you head start. WHATEVVVVERRRRR Do you want me to carry a passenger as well to even things up? If YOU think it'd be fair. Or would having my Bushtec Roadstar in tow make it even enough? Ask the last cocky "sofa pilot" who thought he would even things out for me on HIS local roads. (I am talking the RSV and not the FJR). Curt
86er Posted December 1, 2008 #18 Posted December 1, 2008 I'm behind Swifty on this one, (something that rarely happens! ) I don't think there are many, if any 2nd gens that could keep up with a well ridden 1st gen. I don't think they have the lean angle. Although I've seen Double D do some respectable keep up at Vogel! And we all know how Dave likes to lean the Browner!!! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/48B5ECCA00031453000044B922165279-1.jpg "Ask the last cocky "sofa pilot" who thought he would even things out for me on HIS local roads." ???
royalstarjac Posted December 1, 2008 #19 Posted December 1, 2008 Lean angle? The Possum thinks we've got lean angle to spare!-Jack http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b152/bigjack1/Dragon101908/img_5682-1.jpg
Guest Swifty Posted December 1, 2008 #20 Posted December 1, 2008 I'm not wanting to hijack the thread, but where was that photo taken? uhh, I'm guessing its one of the tunnels on Clear Creek Canyon road (#6) just west of Golden, Colorado. Can anyone there or on that ride confirm that?
Guest Swifty Posted December 1, 2008 #21 Posted December 1, 2008 Lean angle? http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b152/bigjack1/Dragon101908/img_5682-1.jpg ...lean ANGLE, not lean CAMERA!!

I think this is more like what we're talking about. And this is with my suspension set low! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/06945.jpg And I've got a little room left to lean to the right! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/06943.jpg

But Eck and I did catch GT Mustang that had a head start on us in Eureka Springs. So you can't be too slow Eck!! Only because AllanH said I couldn't do it...... Dale
Eck Posted December 1, 2008 #24 Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) But Eck and I did catch GT Mustang that had a head start on us in Eureka Springs. So you can't be too slow Eck!! Only because AllanH said I couldn't do it...... Dale = I remember that day well Dale...As soon as I heard Allan say you couldnt catch that mustang, I knew the race was on...I down shifted with you and off we went.. Yes, I was riding by myself and you had your wife on yours and you still caught up to that Mustang... But hey, deep down, we both know we took some "chances" to pull it off and we all were lucky that day.. Edited December 2, 2008 by Eck
Guest Swifty Posted December 2, 2008 #25 Posted December 2, 2008 I think this is more like what we're talking about. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/06945.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/06943.jpg and this...
