No more Tail of the Dragon.................

I have revised this post after several posts wondering why I would change the name of the Vogel event. It has been said that it has become tradition, if it aint broke, dont fix it, and after consideration we have decided to leave a good thing alone. There was not particular reason to change it other than for change, but I guess everyone associated The Tail of the Dragon with Vogel, and thats a good thing.

So thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions for a new name, it did get quite a bit of attention and took some minds off of other things for a while, so not a bad thing I guess. But I will have to come up with another contest for the prizes I offered.

I am retiring the "Tail of the Dragon" name for the Vogel event. Charlene and I have several ideas for a new name, but we thought we might enlist the help of the membership here for a new name. The only stipulation is that Vogel has to be in the name. We will choose 5 of the suggestions and then post them in a poll, the one that gets the most votes will win a t-shirt, patch and free registration for 2 to the next event at Vogel in August 2009.

 

To enter a suggestion for a name just copy and paste this list of names to your reply and add your suggestion. This will make it easy for us to keep track of all the names and easier for everyone else to see what has been suggested by looking at the most recent post. The deadline for entries will be Jan. 1, 2009.

lewis, just my 2 cents. i always thought the tail of the dragon, and the t-shirt and patch designs you have had in the past, were 20 on the 10 scale. the name is awesome. the shirts and patches are my favorite of all times. i sure hate to see you change anything. it is still my favorite meet bar none. i say if it ain't broke don't fix it. people associate with tradition. just a suggestion. i was looking forward to seeing how you could top last years shirt. your good buddy bill.

The shirts and patches will still be top notch, the Dragon is always going to be incorporated into the design, so only a slight name change while all else will remain the same or improved, and thanks for the compliments Bill.............:bowdown:

Just my 2 cents. I have to agree with Bill. It is a catchy name. Great name. A tradition. I have come to know about "The Tail of the Dragon" and for the last few months I have had that name on my mind and trying to arrange / juggle things around so I can make it to the next "Tail of the Dragon". The event has not come to an end, therefore, I say: The name should not end either.

Myself and I am sure others who have never made it but always wanted to, will have to face the fact that we will never make it to the "Tail of the Dragon"

 

What if they changed the name for Sturgis?
