TxVenture Posted July 3, 2007 #1 Posted July 3, 2007 Ok, have 2 problems. Bike is a '93 VR. First problem:Radio channel display flashed rapidly and lost sound. Now no channel display or sound. The little red light that shows power on is lit, but nothing coming out of unit. Have had problems with radio losing sound with channel display remaining lit showing station that I was listening to, then will come back on and scare the you know what out of me. It will remain "off" for a few minutes, or it might be 2 or 3 days before it comes back on, or anywhere in between. Just a "wild a-- guess", did the radio give up the ghost or what??? Second problem: The bike has the wrap around rear lights. The lights are in a 2 bulb assembly and 1 of the assemblies keeps burning both bulbs out in less than an hour after replacing the bulbs, which btw is a pain in the you know what. A side note, if you have the same set-up, you need to buy at least twice the amount of bulbs needed because you will end up breaking probably 2 or 3 of them. I want to be able to keep these lights lit because it gives the bike an unbalanced look, and I am unbalanced enough already! :bang head: Any ideas?? Thanks Don H.
buddy Posted July 3, 2007 #2 Posted July 3, 2007 My radio did the same thing as yours.Mine was a bad pigtail from the battery to the unit,Would half to go up to the garage and see which color wire I worked on,I removed the pigtail and butt spliced them together,Thinking it was two wire set up?I'll check and let you know buddy

Don 1 first of all get some dielectric grease and put it in the blue pin sockets on the bike side of the removable part of the radio panel. That may stop the problem 2 it sounds like the problem light assembly has a ground problem remove the assembly and clean the mounting surface and light assembly if that does not fix it then more than likely the lightbulb sockets are bad. do these things and PM me if you still need troubleshooting help. Jeff
GeorgeS Posted July 3, 2007 #4 Posted July 3, 2007 When you pull out the Radio Panel, Check the quite small pins in the pull apart plug. Its very easy for one or more of these pins to get Bent, then they do not Insert correctly. I had this happen twice.
bongobobny Posted July 3, 2007 #6 Posted July 3, 2007 Replace lights with LED's after checking ground...
