Dragracer Posted November 22, 2008 #1 Posted November 22, 2008 I'm in the market for a motorcycle lift table. Anyone know where the best deal is? Any used ones? Any bike shops closing and selling equipment??
Guest weirdbeard Posted November 22, 2008 #2 Posted November 22, 2008 I am pretty sure I have seen them at Harbor Fright. They sell the cheapest tools around. China made of course. A lot of the stuff is ok, Some of it is trash.
raceman62race Posted November 22, 2008 #3 Posted November 22, 2008 You can get a good one from http://www.completehydraulic.com/ It is sort of expensive but it is stable.I have a friend that owns one and from time to time I use his. Been thinking about getting one for myself
cobra Posted November 22, 2008 #4 Posted November 22, 2008 I have a harbor fright lift and it works. I have had it for about 4 or 5 years now.
Squidley Posted November 22, 2008 #5 Posted November 22, 2008 I have heard many using the one from Harbor Freight with no problems.
rod Posted November 22, 2008 #6 Posted November 22, 2008 I use the harbor freight lift table (with the foot pump). It works very well. I have not had a problem with it. Rod
Dragracer Posted November 22, 2008 Author #7 Posted November 22, 2008 The Harbor Freight lift will hold the Venture nd it's stable? Do you use the 1000 or the 1200 version?
Squidley Posted November 23, 2008 #8 Posted November 23, 2008 The Harbor Freight lift will hold the Venture nd it's stable? Do you use the 1000 or the 1200 version? If you have the option, buy the heavier rated table, also get the one that has the rear drop out floor to remove the rear wheel.
BEER30 Posted November 23, 2008 #9 Posted November 23, 2008 I have the #1000 with the removable rear panel and it work good enough . If you get extend the front wheel chock all the way forward. Also place additional U-bolts a little more from there present location towards the rear , so tie-down straps clear the lowers . At first when go to raise the scoot , the table will shift a little giving you a little uneasy feeling , but it is stable and secure . I made side floorboards out of 2X's and plywood that lay along the sides. Making these floorboard-platforms makes it much easier when I drive the scoot on and off the lift . I made the the same hight as the lift table and about 16" wide . I move them away after I secure the scoot on the lift with chock and straps . These floorboards make it easy for me to drive my John Deere lawn tractor onto when I need to service it as well . The lift is wide enough to grab at least 1/2 the tires of the JD . I am now looking for the mini-jack to raise the scoot so I can remove my rear or front tire . Most I have seen go for about 100 bones , but have seen them on e-bay for $59.00 . Just don't know the quality of them . I've tried the scissor jacks that you get from compact cars , but don't work so great . BEER30
cimmer Posted November 24, 2008 #10 Posted November 24, 2008 Here are a few sites that sell them that I have been looking at. http://www.bencostuff.com/mpages/cyclelifts.html http://www.discountramps.com/motorcycle-lifts.htm Check these out and see if they have something you might want. Rick F.
Dragracer Posted November 24, 2008 Author #11 Posted November 24, 2008 Anyone seen one of these?? http://www.kendonusa.com/lift.htm#Cruiser_Lift
Dragracer Posted December 6, 2008 Author #12 Posted December 6, 2008 Well, this is what I ended up with: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j204/DragracerUSA/IMG_0417.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j204/DragracerUSA/IMG_0420.jpg It's a Direct Lift Pro Cycle 1000 lb lift. I got a great deal on it, but I wanted the side extensions to make loading/unloading the Venture a little safer. I called Affordale Automotice Equipment in Orlando, and spoke with company president, Bill Venditto. Bill was easy to deal with and gave me an excellent price on the extension kit. I'd recommend this business to anyone looking for a bike lift or parts. http://www.affordableautomotiveequip.net/
IH Truck Guy Posted December 7, 2008 #13 Posted December 7, 2008 Looks great!!!!!!! Just be aware, you have now opened a cycle shop... Your friends will be over all the time...:stirthepot: I see a whole lot of bench racing in your future....:D The plus side is you can try stuff on their bikes before you work on your's...
N3FOL Posted December 7, 2008 #14 Posted December 7, 2008 Very nice lift! That looks to be the perfect bike lift to be able to do your own motorcyle maintainance and repair. Congrats.
