royalstarjac Posted November 20, 2008 #2 Posted November 20, 2008 Maybe this is a dumb question but what is your volume set on?-Jack
rooster1 Posted November 20, 2008 Author #3 Posted November 20, 2008 volume control works fine i have turned it all the way up to the max still nothing.
N3FOL Posted November 20, 2008 #4 Posted November 20, 2008 I am not too familiar with my radio controls either, but there may be a 'mute' function somewhere in there.
KiteSquid Posted November 20, 2008 #5 Posted November 20, 2008 Check to see if the CB is off. If the squelch is set too low, and there is no traffic on the channel you have selected would cause your symptoms. Also if the intercom is on, and one of the two Push to Talk buttons is stuck down. READ the owners manual section on the operation of the radio. it is challenging in its operation. In the Service Manual, the Audio System information starts on page 8-51 and the procedure you want starts on page 8-56. If you don't already have it, this manual is available for FREE. Just click on the VRTech link on the left side of any page here at THE forum!!!!

Eck Posted November 20, 2008 #7 Posted November 20, 2008 Jim, Not sure I can help you, but I will be traveling through Florida next week. (Thanksgiving week). I just looked at your profile and see you live in Tampa. I can make a stop at your place to see if I can fix it for free... Here are our plans: I will be in Orlando Sunday, leaving there and taking a ride into Tampa so we can go south over that big bridge with our grand daughter, and continue south to Sarasota Weds to see my parents, then leaving Sarasota Friday coming back through Tampa and arriving back home in Huntsville Saturday. I'm going to be in Tampa twice on my trip and I would be most happy to help see if I can get your radio working. It may be the wire harness connection that is very common and I also have the dilectric grease that is needed for the connectors. We would have to split your fairing which takes me about 5 - 8 minutes to do.. I can bring all tools needed if you want my help. Just send me an email reply if you want me to stop by to help.

Eck Posted November 21, 2008 #12 Posted November 21, 2008 i want to thank eck for offering to stop by on his vacation to help. this is a great site. Your most welcome ....I encourage you (and others) to "pay-it forward" .. For those who have never heard of this or understand what it means, the idea is very simple. You do something good for other people. These people cannot 'repay' you... They are encouraged to pay-it-forward. In turn, doing something good for someone else. And so on and so forth. The mathematics is simple. If I'll do something constructive for 3 people and these 3 people in turn do something for 3 other people (each) - we have already impacted 9 people in total. These 9 people will make a difference in 27 people's life, which in their turn will touch 81 people's hearts... See how fast it grows? Of course, there will be people that break the chain. However, others still, will reach out and touch more people than you could possibly imagine. lets all start the new year off using this principle to make the world a better place.

You mean there are folks out there who don't do this already??? They're certainly not a part of this group! btw, there is a movie about this...it's very good I think.
MikeM8560 Posted November 22, 2008 #14 Posted November 22, 2008 btw, there is a movie about this...it's very good I think. Yes it was good and stared that Kid who saw dead people.
Eck Posted November 22, 2008 #15 Posted November 22, 2008 btw, there is a movie about this...it's very good I think. Yep, that is where I saw it and have tried to live it since. Great movie..! Amazingly, there are still people who have not seen or ever heard about "pass is forward", that is the only reason I mentioned it. I have yet to meet anyone on this site that doesnt "pass it forward" in some fashion or another and I think that is what makes this family special..
