SilvrT Posted November 19, 2008 #1 Posted November 19, 2008 In the owner's manual, it lists an Aux DC jack and Aux DC terminal. Is the jack the same on as that used for the audio headset? How do you use the Aux DC terminal? Could someone pls elaborate...thanks
SaltyDawg Posted November 19, 2008 #2 Posted November 19, 2008 The Aux DC Jack is located on the left faring under the handle bars. It is used like a cig lighter to power DC equipment. The Aux DC terminal is under the seat and is just a AUX switched power source you can tap into for things like heated gloves. Although I wouldn't recommend it for that.
sarges46 Posted November 19, 2008 #3 Posted November 19, 2008 My front one powers the gps and has been split inside the fairing to power my satellite radio as well. The rear one was wired for a cigarette lighter. The lighter is mounted on the flat black spot just between the seats on the left side. I have blown the fuse using a air mattress compressor on the front. Its a pain to change that fuse so I dont do that any more.

Thanks guys...mucho appreciated!

Is that fuse in the fairing?

sarges46 Posted November 19, 2008 #7 Posted November 19, 2008 Hey, I think my fuse is blown, as that jack no longer works. Is that fuse in the fairing? Nope...its inside the lower right cowling and can be a bear to get at. I had trouble removing the thing as the center pin that holds the right and left together at the bottom wouldnt release for me. I did manage to loosen things enough and get at the fuse block. It takes a 5 amp blade fuse.

BoomerCPO Posted November 20, 2008 #12 Posted November 20, 2008 So, riders right cowling or cowling under the DC jack? AKA, the right side when looking at front of bike? I'm pretty sure it is the riders RIGHT as you are sitting on the bike facing forward......Facing the rear means ya ride funny....

FutureVentures Posted November 20, 2008 #14 Posted November 20, 2008 When I'm sitting on the bike, mine is on the left side. Yeah, ok, that makes a LOT more sense to me. Seeing how the DC jack is in the left side of the fairing.... Still seems like an odd place to put the fuse...why not the fairing? Oh well. Thanks!
wizard Posted November 20, 2008 #15 Posted November 20, 2008 Sorry guys, the 5 amp fuse for the power outlet in the left side of the front fairing is located in the fuse box located in the lower right side fairing. To get to the fuse is really no problem, just remove the front half of the lower fairing, I believe 3 bolts. Its located in a small box in the lower part of the fairing that remains on the bike. You do not need to remove the 2 rear parts of the lower fairing. These locations are as you are sitting on the bike.

Ok, by lower fairing I assume you mean the "cowling", where your right foot rests behind? Yes, no? Thanks!

My aux DC outlet is on the clutch lever side of the cowling... go figgure!
