krome rose Posted November 16, 2008 #1 Posted November 16, 2008 Here is what a Volusia 800 sounds like through the various stages of being DeBaffled and then putting in Diamond Jim's Fibrosleeve Mod. I think it's a great sound for about $15.00 worth of material. Thank you SaltyDawg for making my ride sound so much better!! BEER30 Posted November 16, 2008 #2 Posted November 16, 2008 Sounds Great .........But isn't your neighborhood speed limit 35 MPH ? BEER30
SaltyDawg Posted November 16, 2008 #3 Posted November 16, 2008 Sounds Great .........But isn't your neighborhood speed limit 35 MPH ? BEER30 Actually it's 25MPH but she owns the neighborhood, or so she thinks.
mini-muffin Posted November 16, 2008 #4 Posted November 16, 2008 Brandy sounds good. Hey Wayne tell me it isn't so, I thought you guys did own that neighborhood. :rotf: Margaret
BEER30 Posted November 16, 2008 #5 Posted November 16, 2008 Actually it's 25MPH but she owns the neighborhood, or so she thinks. And I also see you owns you too !!:rotfl: BEER30
SaltyDawg Posted November 16, 2008 #6 Posted November 16, 2008 And I also see you owns you too !!:rotfl: BEER30 I'm not so sure how to take that one. This is what I was thinking about doing to my pipes. I'm just not sure how to go about it, it isn't as simple as doing her pipes. Ours have that taper at the end of the pipe. I like how it took the tap tap tapping sound out of the strictly debaffled pipes.
krome rose Posted November 16, 2008 Author #7 Posted November 16, 2008 Mini, we DO own the hood...We're paying taxes on two houses compared to the everyone else's one!
StarFan Posted November 16, 2008 #8 Posted November 16, 2008 Great sound to say the least. Now I will only have to find the right way to make my 1998 USA based Royal Star Tour Classic make that deep nice rumble. It has the stock muffler and I do think it sounds a little like a Piaggio Vespa. Never seen the bike and never heard it. Kind of a bonus on my USA trip seeing the bike for the first time - You guys are of cause the main thing for sure.
mini-muffin Posted November 17, 2008 #9 Posted November 17, 2008 Hey Jonas are you trying to butter us up? Wayne if you want your pipes drilled out just bring it to MD at Don's they can do it there for ya. Margaret
kenw Posted November 17, 2008 #10 Posted November 17, 2008 Sounds great! I've got an 800 sitting in the garage. Is there someplace I can go to to find out about the mod, and did you have to rejet? Thanks
krome rose Posted November 17, 2008 Author #11 Posted November 17, 2008 You do not need to rejet,as you are doing nothing to the intake of air. Motorcycle journal. com under Diamond Jim or fibrosleeve should get you to the site. Enjoy! Brandy
SaltyDawg Posted November 17, 2008 #12 Posted November 17, 2008 Sounds great! I've got an 800 sitting in the garage. Is there someplace I can go to to find out about the mod, and did you have to rejet? Thanks Here is the link. If you need any info just let me know. Materials are cheap, it's the hole saws to cut the baffles out that are pricey. It cost about $45.00 for the hole saws, the materials were less than $15.00. One thing we found out that wasn't explained too good was you want to get the fiberglass matting just past the end of the mesh on the side that goes into the pipe. This will allow the wire mesh to grab the mesh and pull it in. I didn't do that the first dozen or so times:doh: and the mesh would go in but the matting just slid over it and stayed out of the pipes. Then Krome Rose made the suggestion and low and behold it worked. I just hate admitting she is right. http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/forum/marauder-m50-secret-hideaway/32124-m50-fiberglass-rebaffle-low-merged.html Here is another good link for Volusias. http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/forum/marauder-m50-secret-hideaway/35241-m50-links-tutorials.html#post480384
