Here is what a Volusia 800 sounds like through the various stages of being DeBaffled and then putting in Diamond Jim's Fibrosleeve Mod.

 

I think it's a great sound for about $15.00 worth of material.

I'm not so sure how to take that one.

 

This is what I was thinking about doing to my pipes. I'm just not sure how to go about it, it isn't as simple as doing her pipes. Ours have that taper at the end of the pipe.

 

I like how it took the tap tap tapping sound out of the strictly debaffled pipes.

Great sound to say the least.

Now I will only have to find the right way to make my 1998 USA based Royal Star Tour Classic make that deep nice rumble. It has the stock muffler and I do think it sounds a little like a Piaggio Vespa. Never seen the bike and never heard it. Kind of a bonus on my USA trip seeing the bike for the first time - You guys are of cause the main thing for sure.

You do not need to rejet,as you are doing nothing to the intake of air. Motorcycle journal. com under Diamond Jim or fibrosleeve should get you to the site. Enjoy!

Here is the link. If you need any info just let me know. Materials are cheap, it's the hole saws to cut the baffles out that are pricey. It cost about $45.00 for the hole saws, the materials were less than $15.00.

 

One thing we found out that wasn't explained too good was you want to get the fiberglass matting just past the end of the mesh on the side that goes into the pipe. This will allow the wire mesh to grab the mesh and pull it in. I didn't do that the first dozen or so times:doh: and the mesh would go in but the matting just slid over it and stayed out of the pipes. Then Krome Rose made the suggestion and low and behold it worked. I just hate admitting she is right.
