For the pasted 3 weeks, I'd start the bike, let it warm up, then take of for a ride.

with in 5-20 miles, the bike would stall.

wait a few minutes, and the bike would restart. and ride fine all day.

The first time, I brought it in, and drained the tank & replaced the fuel filter.

the third time it happened, I brought it in for service.

Turns out the fuel pump gets hot, and stops fuctioning

under warranty it was replaced.

we rode it yesterday for 250 miles, no problems.......Yet....:thumbsup2:

I have 28,430 miles on her so far

Brake pad,

Sure glad you got it figured out, and your able to ride with out fear of it breaking down again.

I remember when I was on my way to the Ft. Collins rally, I spent the nigth in Manhatten Ks. to meet up with Freebird and others. The next morning, as we all pulled out of the motel parking lot, my bike seemed to spit and sputter a little. Then when everyone took off from the first light (I was tail gunner) I took off with them and as soon as I shifted from first to second, my bike stalled..It would turn over with the key, but would not start.

After removing the gas tank, and checking electrical system with a meter, I turned the key and it started, yet I didnt fix anything....

I rode the entire trip to Ft. Collins, and all the way back home to Alabama. Not one time did it burp on me after that incident. Then about two weeks after I got back home, I pulled off the road I live onto the main highway, shifted to second gear and it stalled again... it was the fuel pump on mine too which was replaced under warrenty..

That was around 23k to 26k when mine went out.

I have hear of few others Ventures having fuel pump problems too, but not a whole lot of them.

Yamaha said they know, there is a problem with the fuel pumps, no wonder they have to give a 5 year warranty. no one would buy the bikes, with all there problems:ignore:

I had a similar problem with my 07 during a meet and eat in PA. We rode a to lunch and then after lunch as we started for a ride the bike would not start. It turned over fine but would not fire. Tried switching the fuel to reserve and cycling the cut off switch. Nothing worked, then after a couple of minutes it fired right up. Haven't had a problem since then but I will keep this in mind in case the problem recurs. Thanks for the info.

How many miles did you have at the time your bike did not want to start? This is really nice to keep in mind and once I get the first sign of not starting or sputtering down the road...my bike is going to the shop to have the fuel pump replaced. At least I know what to tell the mechanics...(I think the fuel filter is not part of the warranty - could be part of regular maintenance)

No, I had come home froma 3500 mile ride . I let the bike sit for almost two weeks before getting back on it..

no the filter I paid for.

the shop said not the let the bike sit, and start it every few days, just to get the fuel flowing

Yes, I heard that these bikes don't really want to sit too long in the garage. The good thing is that I love to ride all year long. It was in the low 30's on my way to work and the ride was great. I guess if I continue to run the bike every week, it might help in the long run.
