1st gen windshield

Hello everyone! Great site! I just recently purchased an 86'. The previous owner put a slip stream windshield on the bike which I find too short. Does anyone make an aftermarket windshield for this bike anymore? Or do I need to just focus on finding a used stock one? Thanks again!

I bought a new one from j c whitney that was the same height as the stock windshield.

I had a slipstream on my 85 that was too short also, I found a compnay recommended by members on this website called Clearview that makes a larger than stock windsheild for the 1st gens. Actually I think it can be had in a few different configurations with and without vents, larger smaller wider, etc.

I had an issue with my clearview's vent being installed slightly crooked and I placed a call and they took care of the issue immediately!

I have an '86 as well and have added the largest windshield Clearview makes (with a vent) and have loved it. Even bought one for my son's '81 Silverwing, which he loves.

 

There are other companies out there, but John is great with his service and the price is very competative.

You can still get a new Yamaha windshield my dealer said around $100.00

buy a new windshield... if you need you can have it "trimmed" at a good plastic shop.
