Naked Rider Posted November 4, 2008 #1 Posted November 4, 2008 i bought the bike used in June and it had some back fire to it sounded kinda cool at the time but now it is really starting to gett on my nerves. the bike has had new pipes put on it. so is it the pipes having to much back pressure, do i need to remap, carb snyc or just adjust it till it goes away? any help would be great.
Bvinson Posted November 4, 2008 #2 Posted November 4, 2008 Sync the carbs and plug the ABS. Articles for both are in the TECH SECTION.
5bikes Posted November 5, 2008 #3 Posted November 5, 2008 They ALWAYS screw up the carburation. Contrary to public OPINION, the engine runs too rich, not lean. This is 5 other bikes (not mine) I've tuned. Personally I wouldn't have or buy a bike with loud exhaust, until they are retuned they LOSE power and gas mileage. Had a friend put the stock exhaust back on his bike. It now runs faster, better gas mileage, doesn't backfire and he does not have to ride in the back of the group anymore!
saddlebum Posted November 5, 2008 #4 Posted November 5, 2008 Cut out the beans, theres nothing worse than a naked rider with backfire
gibvel Posted November 5, 2008 #5 Posted November 5, 2008 Sync the carbs and plug the ABS. Articles for both are in the TECH SECTION. I don't think his bike has ABS. (I think he means the AIS )
Guest BigJohnD Posted November 5, 2008 #6 Posted November 5, 2008 I don't think his bike has ABS. (I think he means the AIS ) All these acronyms...I am so confused...
Venturous Randy Posted November 6, 2008 #7 Posted November 6, 2008 Backfiring while coasting down is usually an indicator of an exhaust leak pulling in oxygen under high vacuum and firing. RandyA

Bvinson Posted November 6, 2008 #9 Posted November 6, 2008 I don't think his bike has ABS. (I think he means the AIS ) I think my CRS caused a hic-up with the ABS. Getting older is a JOY..
