vmax thumper Posted June 27, 2007 #1 Posted June 27, 2007 HELP,!!! I just got my radio back from my Dads house {he was repairing the mount plate cracked where the lower bar goes accross} and plugged it into the dash and it lights up goes to correct stations but very little sound comes out of the speakers! have to have it up full blast to hear anything out of the speakers. Leaving for SD,BLack hills ride this friday at 1pm. any Ideas on tunes?
drumphoto Posted June 27, 2007 #3 Posted June 27, 2007 Yes I agree check the mute switch on your handlebars. I rode around like that for a month until I accidentaly hit it again and found I had sound. Live and learn I guess
vmax thumper Posted June 27, 2007 Author #4 Posted June 27, 2007 tried that no luck, I was going thru the service manual on line and they say that possibly the amp block is bad? any one else had this happen?
SilvrT Posted June 27, 2007 #5 Posted June 27, 2007 I had similar problem with mine...can't explain it but after banging the mute button numerous times, including the one on the dash near the radio controls (not even sure if that's what it is...maybe it's the intercom button?), I finally got my tunes to blare out again. I don't use the CB or intercom so am not overly familiar with the controls/buttons for them but I'm guessing I had one or more of them turned off or on when they shouldn't be. (just my experience...may not be the solution to your issue)
bongobobny Posted June 27, 2007 #6 Posted June 27, 2007 Ummmm, perhaps the "Headphone" button on the intercom/radio controller is pushed in??? That will give you those exact symptoms. Don't ask how I know about that one:doh:
Gearhead Posted June 27, 2007 #7 Posted June 27, 2007 Or the mute button on the passenger control? Jeremy
SilvrT Posted June 27, 2007 #8 Posted June 27, 2007 Or the mute button on the passenger control? Jeremy Now, how would you know about that? (notice I'm not asking bongobobny because he said not to...) (hmmmm... maybe you guys know these things for the same reason's I do) gawd, sometimes I embarass myself!
Gearhead Posted June 27, 2007 #10 Posted June 27, 2007 Oh, another possiblity that assailed me once. I had the CB on to see if it worked. I adjusted the squelch nicely and rode around. Shut it off, started it up another day, no sound from radio. Turned out that the squelch, adjusted right for the conditions the other day, was set up too tight and it was breaking squelch, muting the radio. Jeremy
Thom Posted June 28, 2007 #11 Posted June 28, 2007 make sure you turn off the tape player and ck the mute button mine sticks all the time
GeorgeS Posted June 28, 2007 #12 Posted June 28, 2007 Turn volume UP on Handle bar control, Set Volume to Max on main panel, Push Earphone/Speaker switch, for Speaker, Radio should work.
