buddy Posted June 27, 2007 #1 Posted June 27, 2007 83 Venture Standard I will be or try to anyway, repair my fuel gauge.#1 Do I need to solder the whole strip or just around the prongs,#2 Would I need more solder to do the repair or just heat up the solder already in place?If so what type of solder do I need for this board? I already have it torn down,CMS in hand. buddy

I already have it torn down,CMS in hand. buddy When soldering electrical components, for the solder to stick properly the tracks and the prongs must be perfectly clean so it is always best to suck off old solder and put on new but usually people don't do it this way. Use rosin to clean the components and only the prongs need to be soldered to the tracks. Rosin core solder is the only type that can be used on electrical products. Dick
buddy Posted June 28, 2007 Author #3 Posted June 28, 2007 Thanks Rhncue, I did just as you said too, Fuel gauge works perfect,I get all the fuel bars now ,even shows the last bar - before going to empty .Which I have not seen in a long time.Been going off the mileage reset counter for some time now.Which itself is not good to go by when your stuck in traffic or bad weather (winds) which would take more fuel down,now I can go by my gauge.Since the 83 has no fuel reserve this makes it so much better. Bought a pencil solder & 1/16" 40/60 rosin core solder.And a lot of Praying.Worked Out Perfect. Thanks Buddy
