I think that bolt pattern is pretty much standardized at 4".

Since you have 8" wheels now the fenders might have to be relocated to clear the larger wheel. Wouldn't surprise me if the alternate mounting holes are already there since they sell the same trailer in 8" and 10" wheel versions.

Why not use 13" wheels and tires off of a vehicle? The older Honda civic's and Saturns had a 4 on 100mm bolt pattern or 4 on 4inch. The center hole may have to be enlarged to fit the hub. That's what I done on my trailer 13" radials, the tires dry rot before you wear them out and are easy to find. My :2cents:

Go with the chrome replacement. They were made to fit the 4" pattern. Do the conversion that 4 inches is equal to 101.60 millimeters and you will realize import wheels are just a hair small. I tried this and had wheel hop (off centered wheel) And the taper on import lugs is a different angle than American. It may work for a while but my luck is failure will occur at the furthest point from home. And besides,Chrome is pur-dee-er.

Ken,

Get ahold of Piggy Backer trailers as they have the chrome rims that they put on their trailers and sell them separately. I bought 3 of them for my diamondplate trailer and I bought them for $40 apiece. Check them out before you jump on the ones from HF.

I guess I must be lucky at it. I have over a 100,000 miles on my trailer with no problems. I put them on the ex-girlfriends trailer and she has 10,000 or so miles with no issues ( maybe that's why she is ex-girlfriend ). I couldn't get any mileage out of the 12" tires so went to the 13" radials. http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif

Something I didn't think of until yesterday; replacing my 8" wheels with 12" is going to raise my trailer and make slope down to the bike. Right now it rides level when loaded and this is with only 1 leaf spring as I took out the other.

I think I'm just gonna get 2 chrome 8" wheels and use one of my stock wheels as the spare. :) However, it's good info to know that the bolt pattern is the same. In the future I may change the suspension to independent suspension and I never knew the exact bolt pattern of the wheels.

I looked at Piggy Backer's website but didn't see a link for spare parts.

Ken,

Call them up and they will sell you the rims, I did this as I couldn't find any chrome rims like them on the net. I will warn you though, they are just cheap metal from China, so you will have to keep them clean and protected to keep them from corroding, especially in Hawaii and the salf water :headache:
