MAINEAC Posted November 3, 2008 #26 Posted November 3, 2008 Hot Hands... About a buck a pack at Walmart... Shake em up and put em in your gloves http://images.google.com/url?q=http://www.sunandski.com/v/vspfiles/photos/0093056750002-2T.jpg&usg=AFQjCNGudLZDVt3nqJjaWdTZlf8UiqPcEw
friesman Posted November 3, 2008 #27 Posted November 3, 2008 Ive only ever tried this once and it seemed to work. Shake A very small amount of cayenne pepper in your gloves works also, but be careful with it if you put in too much and then sweat Ive been told you can actually burn your skin. Brian
Snarley Bill Posted November 3, 2008 #28 Posted November 3, 2008 Got a question for you cold weather riders who have been doing this for a while. What gloves do ya wear to keep your hands warm. I've rode home from work the last couple of mornings, temps around 30 to 32 degrees F, and with my snowmobile suit on my body stays comfortable, but my hands get extremely cold. I wear waterproof snowmobile gloves but it doesn't help. I'm not even going to try adding a handwarmer on the grips, beings what adding fuel is the extent of my mechanical abilities. Any help on warm gloves would be appreciated. Thanks, Glenn i found the best gloves for really cold weather are a good set of leather bike gloves with gaunlets. buy loose fitting ones like a size or two to large. the airspace will keep from cutting off circulation and help insulate. the gloves i wear most of the time are $7.00 leather gloves from aldis .i don't break out the heavy gear till it gets below 35, unless i am going a few hundred miles or more.
Snarley Bill Posted November 3, 2008 #29 Posted November 3, 2008 Thanks everyone for their advice. I'll end getting something electrical I guess, but I don't plan on putting the bike away because of cold temps. Snow, freezing rain - of course - but we get very little of that. My friends goldwing has heated hand grips and seat (factory). Maybe someday Yamaha will do the same? Thanks again, Glenn i had heated grips on my rstd. they were okay, but the throttle side got hot and on the clutch side, the handle bar absorbed most of the heat. i had the tape on under the grip heaters maybe the regular grips will insulate from the bar.
SteveP Posted November 3, 2008 #30 Posted November 3, 2008 ....Were did you pick up the Balclava? ... I got one from J&P Cycles. Here's their full list of Balaclavas. I have the Schampa WarmSkin: lightweight, warm & only $14.99.

Thanks again, Glenn Hippo Hands made by Vetter.I use these when it gets real cold. The end where you put your hands thru is big enough so if your wearing a snowmobile suit, you can still get your hand in.The thing I like about these is your hands stay dry in the rain and you can wear a thin pair of gloves instead of bulkier snowmobile gloves. I have had these for over 25 years,so I don't know if Vetter still makes them. The only draw back is you must be able to operate all your bikes handlebar controls without seeing them.. I have had these on 2 750 Honda's and a BMW.They work great on the Venture too..
