I got tired of trying to read the side of the oil bottles to measure out 1/2 quart when I change out the oil on my Venture.

Went to the Dollar Store and bought a plastic measuring cup that reads ounces. Pour in 8 ounces of fresh oil into the cup and then add the remaining 3 full quarts right into the crankcase that will total 3 and 1/2 quarts.

Hope this makes it easier for some of you on your oil changes.

It would be easier if you just stopped by and took care of it on a regular basis. :innocent:

LOL!! I have it nailed down to 15 minutes now on the oil changes....better than Jiffy Lube!

I just buy a 1 gallon jug of Rotella and put it all in when I change the oil. The gallon is the perfect amount when changing the filter also, how do you get away with 1/2 qt less?

You will find out soon enough that a gallon is TOO much oil. I even use a longer filter than stock and a gallon would still overfill it by a good bit. When the bike in the perfect upright position, you should see the oil level about half way up in the site glass. If you fill it more than that, you are going to end up with oil in your air boxes. It's not a matter of if...only how soon.

I will check on my next oil change, but I have tried not to overfill it because of what I have learned here and usually have 1/2 -3/4 on the sight glass after my oil change. I guess I may not be getting her perfectly upright when checking:think:
