So when will they start making PAR36 size lamps?

Preferably with a low and high beam feature.......

There is some discussion of it here. None with the High/low beam feature.

Also, some of the sources are NOT very good about listing the beam pattern and whatnot; but at least they do make the LED setup in the PAR36 sized sealed beam configuration.

Here is it, four and a half years after I posted that original article about LED headlamps.

So the title is now, out of date...oh well.

Well Trucklite has a new model, 27270C, that appears to be a drop-in replacement for any normal 7 inch round headlight, even the ones in the Venture.

Has anyone tried one of these? They are about $200 on ebay.

I installed a HID headlight 35W and 6000K and did the LED driving lights also ( truck lites ) from Kury. They are very bright and save a bunch on the charging system.:cool10: BTW I only had a little over $220.00 for all three lights in this set up.

Not being much of a techie, how would they handle a transition to high beam? Incandecent bulbs use a second fillament. How would that work?

Just like brake lights...you have say 75% of LED on for "dim" and 100% for high. IMHO

Good guess but thats not the way they work.

There are separate elements for high and low beam, and corresponding optics to focus the high and low beams in different patterns.

I just checked their website and they have the 7" now. I searched the web for them for price and they are running in the $200+. I think i will stick with my lifetime warranty HID headlamp with LED running lights.

I would like to see 6k on the temp though.

I hate headlights that are burning those blue 6000K lamps. They flat hurt my eyes. MOF I think California has made them illegal unless they were OEM. The driver may think he's cool, but the oncoming traffic get's blinded. I'd rather see them develop an LED that has something around tunston 3400K. I'm all for the idea of LED headlights for our bikes. I just picked up 2 Sears LED 1000lum flashlights in an auction, and when I fired them up they made my 160lum tacticals looks like a match. I'm affaid to stand in front of one.... :whistling:

K9-which passing lamps are those? Are they the high dollar Kuryakin or simular or the $35 northern tool jobs?

I run the $35 Northern Tool ones on my bike and they match the HID great.
