2WHEELSFORME Posted October 24, 2008 #1 Posted October 24, 2008 Rebuilt the clutch on my RSV yesterday. After getting it back together I thought I would crank and do a warm up to check for leaks before putting the Stebel horn back on in case I had to go back in. Starter button only buzzed and the radio keep turning off. I checked my battery purchase date and it’s a year and half old so I go buy a new one. Yikes the problem is still here! Guess what? The Stebel mount bolt is a needed ground so after getting it back on all is well. Out some misery and 80 bucks but I have a new battery. LOL

LOL You mean that the RSV does not have a specific ground wire to the engine? RandyA
V7Goose Posted October 24, 2008 #4 Posted October 24, 2008 You mean that the RSV does not have a specific ground wire to the engine? RandyA The wire he refers to IS the specific ground wire to the engine - located right behind the oil filler cap. That bolt just happens to be the one most people use to mount an air horn. Goose
Yammer Dan Posted October 24, 2008 #5 Posted October 24, 2008 Put that new battery in storage someway? Maybe with a float charger? Or did you use old one for exchange?? Lessons like this we remember.

Do you find yourself bumping into this horn when your menovering around specially backing up. Just thought I'd ask for I think mine is sticking out just a tad too much or is it something one has to live with if ya want improvments.. LOL..
2WHEELSFORME Posted October 24, 2008 Author #7 Posted October 24, 2008 NO mine does not stick out. It is almost flush with the lower exhaust and inside the upper pipe.
VTirelli Posted October 24, 2008 #8 Posted October 24, 2008 if you use the bracket from CarbonOne (on this site), it mounts really tight to the engine.
