Squidley Posted October 26, 2008 Share #26 Posted October 26, 2008 Good for you Lou...but you know that, you can check out anytime you like....but you can never leave. I might actually take one of the Harleys out next year to compare them to the RSV, I love the Venture, but Yamaha is irritating me quite badly with their arrogance on changing the bike. We look forward to seeing it sometime soon.
SilvrT Posted October 26, 2008 Share #27 Posted October 26, 2008 Wife & I went to the Harley shop again yesterday and started talking prices and what's available and what's being built for their spring stock. Well!!!!... current "in-stock" inventory was delivered when the dollar was at par with US. Any inventory coming will arrive at whatever the exchange rate will dictate. Having said that, if things remain as they are we could be looking at a 4-5 thousand dollar increase. So, a new '09 Ultra "in-stock" will run me $24,989. That's with the nicer wheels, ABS, security system. Springtime will be around $29,500 +/- soooooooooo... hello MyBanker! ... with any luck, we could have a new Ultra sitting in the garage by next weekend. Only problem with that is... winter's coming on...it's liable to just sit there until spring before I/we can ride it. But, it's worth it if we can save 5 grand! But, it's worth it if we can save 5 grand! That is exactly why the timing was perfect for me. The combination of the RSV being written off, the current HD inventory in Canada being "at par" with the US, and the Canadian looney going for a dive, it worked out best. By the way, your $24989 matches what I paid for mine. Also, that includes a front fender rail, passing lights, saddlebag rails, plus a com unit, the liners for trunk and saddlebags and the heat deflectors. All that would have to be bought for a new RSV after the fact ... Good luck with whichever direction you choose! Cheers,

I'm also adding Screaming Eagle mufflers, fairing mount mirrors, and higher, swept-back handlebars for a better riding position plus, I may also add on the driver's back rest...might as well load 'er up with a few extra's that I really want and have it all included in the deal. Now let's see....chrome you say?? LOL OMG, next thing I know, it'll be $34,500... YIKES!!
FJR Rider Posted October 26, 2008 Share #30 Posted October 26, 2008 Congrats on the new bike...if we were in the market to replace our 06 RSV, it would be a new Ultra! Curt
Guest maddabber Posted October 26, 2008 Share #31 Posted October 26, 2008 Good luck on your new ride. In my opinion it is not what you ride, it is that YOU RIDE. :thumbsup:All I ask is you keep the same attitude that you have had with rsv, that it is the people on the bike not the bike. Hope to see you scooting around soon. Darrell
