waterbug Posted October 20, 2008 #1 Posted October 20, 2008 We went on the ride to brown county and I got talking to elmo and he was telling me how much better the bike was with air in the shocks, so we stoped at a harley dealer and I bought a pump to try it. I cant believe the diffrence it makes with two up with 30lbs in back and I put 4 lbs in the front, I dont feel like I am ridding in a boat that floats alittle. Thanks for the info Elmo!!
Sideoftheroad Posted October 20, 2008 #2 Posted October 20, 2008 Kevin, You are absolutely right about that. I have mine set to pretty much the same as you. As a matter of fact one of the mechanics that test rode the bike after they got the clutch replaced thought the suspension was too soft. A head mechanic just told him that is a personal preference thing. It is truly like a couch on wheels. Very comfy. I bought the same H-D pump you did. It is actually made by Progressive. The Progressive one w/out the H-D logo is about $10 cheaper from what I remember.
waterbug Posted October 20, 2008 Author #3 Posted October 20, 2008 :dancefool:I rode the bike to work today and its alittle stiff for just me so I need to take some out when its one up. I seen the pump somewere from progressive and it was more than the HD one thats why I bought it. Never thought I would see a HD anything cheaper than something else. Whats a good preasure for front and back one up? I am about 6ft2 and 200lbs? I think I have it for the two of us but I will keep playing with it.
waterbug Posted October 21, 2008 Author #5 Posted October 21, 2008 I have 30 in back now and with just me its to much and just jolts me over bumps and she told me alittle while ago she thought it was alittle stiff for her there so I will have to just keep riding and till I figure it out, gotta hate that rite?
SilvrT Posted November 14, 2008 #6 Posted November 14, 2008 reading the posts here, seems you all buy a hand pump? ... it there a problem using a normal compressor? Mine has an adjustable air pressure valve.
sarges46 Posted November 14, 2008 #7 Posted November 14, 2008 Dont do it Rick. Invest in the progressive hand pumps. The fit nicely in the trunk or saddlebag. An aircompressor is asking to blow things up....like seals.

Chinto Posted November 14, 2008 #9 Posted November 14, 2008 Your local Harley dealers has them in stock. I like the front forks at 5 lbs and the rear at 40 lbs.
kmurphympd Posted November 15, 2008 #10 Posted November 15, 2008 Not to change the subject but what dealership are you hoosiers using when you need one? So far I have been able to do everything on my RSV that I've needed but I know that won't always be the case. I kinda felt like i got the shaft at the dealer that's closest to me when i used em for work on my roadstar (dealership has since changed hands). I'm a little North of Nashville so I'm not to close to anything but not far away from much. Thanks Kenny
