back from memphis.

just got back from memphis and st. jude. what a pleasure to spend the weekend with a group of the finest people in the world. we had 19 bikes, not sure how many people. so many neat things to tell about could'nt begin to cover them all. we went to ronald mcdonald house and it was awesome. lots of pic's were taken. went to harrahs in tunica miss. last night with dragonrider, b2 dad, b2 mom, and their son. this was one of the highlights of the trip. b2dads son road in on a zx14 crotch rocket, looked like a young and very handsome yul brynner. whan i first met him, i said oh one of them crotch rocket riders huh? then said just kidding. i have one just like it. any way we ate the buffet at harrahs. and b2's son had to leave to head for home. he was one of those kid's that just seemed to have a certain carisma about him. could'nt put my finger on it. got to talking about him and to my surprise he was not mid twenties like he appeared but mid thirties with kids. here's the kicker. he was the pilot and captain of his own b2 stealth bomber. i was totally blown away, as i think dragonrider was. i have a new hero in life to put next to my other hero audy murphy. what a great guy. mayby b2dad will come on here and elaborate. anyway lewis and i shared a room and when leaving memphis we met 2 couples at the motel on harleys and one must have been a minister cuz he blessed all of our trips home and our bikes. must have worked cuz i had a great trip home and a great time with all my venture rider friends. bill :clap2::clap2:

As Bill said, great time with great people for a great cause. Like him I cant began to elaborate on everything that transpired on this trip. My sincere thanks to all that participated in this awesome event. This was my highlight ride of the year. So many great people attended and I forgot to pass around a tablet to get their names and home towns. I was having way to much fun. The folks from St. Jude and RMDH were fantastic, they really care about the kids and their families. After we all parted way we went down to Tunica, Miss. to Harrahs casino, I left with a little of their money so that made the trip pay for itself.

We made it home around 7 tonight. Just a short ride of 1500 miles round trip.

 

We had a great time. Will post pics sometime this week.

Thanks to all who showed up for this event, it was awsome.

 

We left for Tupelo Mississippi after the tour of RMH.

 

Then rode north on Natchez Parkway to Nashville, and back

home to the bluegrass state.......KENTUCKY.

We got home about 7:30pm. Left Squidley north of Fort Wayne about 6:30pm.

As others said, it was an awesome meet and tour of the Ronald McDonald house. Met some new people and enjoyed the company of others we've met before. Put a litttle over 1300 miles on the clock and added 3 new states to our map. It was a little bit cool riding but otherwise the weather was great.

We made it home around lunch time today. I think we lived about the closest, but we still stayed the night outside of Memphis. It got late and cold, so we stopped just outside of Memphis and got a room for the night.

Had the best time meeting everyone and going to Ronald McDonald House. It was awesome and yet very emotional. Squidley made a great presentation with the check. Had us all choked up in remembrance of Mean Dog. We are really proud to be a member of this group, whom we now call "family".

I didn't count the bikes or people, I just knew we had a good turnout, or so I thought...since it was our first here.

Hey Bill..did you count the "crotch rocket"? Just kidding! Our son, Jason, really enjoyed riding with us and getting to meet you all. He has done several charity bike runs for other causes and appreciated being invited to this one.

I am not sure what you wanted me to elaborate on..but I chose this screen name because yes, my son flies the B2 Stealth Bomber in the Air Force. Well at least he did when I joined this site. He is now an instructor pilot for the T-38 and is stationed in Columbus, MS. We are very proud of him. Will post some pictures at a later date.

Hope everyone else made it home safe. Again, it was a great (and just a little bit cool) ride. Not sure how the Northerners weathered the cold. But we would do it all over again and certainly are making plans for next year.

Lewis...glad you got to take home some of my money. Enjoy!!

Irene and I got home about 7:30. We had a wonderful time. We got to make some new friends and spend time with some not so new ones. It was great!

thanks jt. i can't hold a candle to most of the folks on here. love them all. thats why they can't run me off. lol. hope to see you at a meet next year. going to have my best st.charles 2 day meet and eat ever next june. try to put it on your calender. maybe you could ride up with la. your good buddy bill.

What a weekend! I will spend the rest of the week recovering

But it was SO worth it. Can't thank everyone enough for the great involvement, what a fantastic 2 1/2 days. We ended up putting on 1761 miles in 58 hours I suppose I still believe that I am young, but this trip told me otherwise

 

I can't put into words right now what's going through my mind. This was one of the best things I have been able to do in my life, and that is no lie. To be able to honor a man that I loved being with, while only knowing him a short time was unreal to me. Being able to help little ones showing such courage, is what life is coming to be for me. To be able to serve a higher purpose and leave the planet a little better than you stepped into it, is life changing. As much as we will play down our importance of giving some money away, it truly is a huge thing. The meaning that was and is, in all your hearts, is what life is about. I am very proud of this group, I am proud to call you all my friends. I hope we have MANY more years together, to grow old and tell lies.
