Condor Posted October 19, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2008 I'd suspect the CMU needs a good re-soldering. Sometimes when it's very cold the tach on my '83 doesn't move until I've been on the road a bit. I've never worried about it, and let it do it's thing.... At 25 years old it has a mind of it's own....

6m459 Posted October 20, 2008 Share #8 Posted October 20, 2008 There was a post here some time ago wherein a sluggish tach was rejuvinated by lubing its needle movement with sili-kroil. http://www.eastwoodco.com/images/us//local/products/detail/p9113.jpg My red bike has a sluggish tach, I have resolved to give this a try next spring. chocking Posted October 24, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 24, 2008 The Tach on my 84 has recently begun to move slugglishly for about 1 or 2 minutes especially when it is very cold as well.. I have not worried about it yet as it works fine after a few minutes. I may try cleaning it up with some product next spring. I also read an article on here some time back about the same problem.
