Sideoftheroad Posted October 19, 2008 #1 Posted October 19, 2008 Don't know what the lights look like inside. Are they just bulbs? If so, anyone think about tinkering with them enough to figure out how to wire led's instead? In bright daylight, sometimes the lights are hard to see. These would be like the neutral, O/d, etc...what I call jewel lights. If they are bulbs, I would think led's would be much brighter.
OutKast Posted October 19, 2008 #2 Posted October 19, 2008 You got a second gen? you ever ridden that thing at night out in the country? Mine glare horribly in the windshield. If you make them brighter, you better also create a way to dim them at night.
Al Bates Posted October 19, 2008 #3 Posted October 19, 2008 Me and my brother have 2nd gens 02 and an 04. We also notice that horribly glare from the OD light. Years ago when I first purchase mine when doing some wiring under the fearing I found the little OD jewel, and tone it down some just so that I can see it in the day time. (If I put my had over it) night time just right. Why better then that thing glaring me in the face and off the windshield. I use paint until I had it just right. On my brothers we used some kind of film. They both worked. I thought that the paint would weakling but it has been on for about 5 years now, I believed I use black heat resistance paint. dipped it once and checked it and dipped it again. Now I had it just right for my eyes.
KiteSquid Posted October 20, 2008 #4 Posted October 20, 2008 Too bad Yamaha did not put a dimmer on these lights....
Sideoftheroad Posted October 20, 2008 Author #5 Posted October 20, 2008 2nd gen. yes. Didn't think about night time riding. Good point. Now if I can just figure out where to put this LOL:
