N3FOL Posted October 12, 2008 #1 Posted October 12, 2008 I plan to do my own maintenance for the 600 mile service recommendation. I can do the oil change, final drive oil, and do a whole lot of safety checks. There is one thing that I am not so sure off...is the carburetor synchronization. How is this accomplished? Is there a special tool? and/or is it necessary this early in the life of the motorcycle?
KeithR Posted October 12, 2008 #2 Posted October 12, 2008 Have a look at this tech article http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 Keith
N3FOL Posted October 12, 2008 Author #3 Posted October 12, 2008 The 'Carbtune' looks like a very nice tool. Is this special tool only available at Yamaha dealers?
KeithR Posted October 12, 2008 #4 Posted October 12, 2008 Here you go......mine took about a week to arrive http://www.carbtune.com/ Keith Here is a US dealer http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CST&Category_Code=MORGAN
N3FOL Posted October 13, 2008 Author #5 Posted October 13, 2008 Keith, I may order the carbtune soon. Thanks for the site in California. How about the meter to check for RPM/idle. What kind of meter did you get? I should find out exactly where the idle screw is in my Venture. Have you sync your carbs lately?
