juggler Posted October 10, 2008 #6 Posted October 10, 2008 If only he made a trunk rack bag. I have liners from another supplier a few year ago. The main zipper on my trunk rack bag keeps breaking. The first one broke the first time I used it and the company replaced in no problem, now it's breaking again and their out of business.
BEER30 Posted October 10, 2008 #7 Posted October 10, 2008 Glad you like them there Frogmaster . The girls at the shop loved the color as well , as we usually only make gear in military colors . It was nice change to do something different. BEER30

The first one broke the first time I used it and the company replaced in no problem, now it's breaking again and their out of business. As time allows me , I will be making a trunk rack bag . Zipper , how is it breaking ? If it is unzipping behind the zipper as you closing the zipper , I can tell you how to fix . It's an easy fix ! BEER30

The problem is the metal on the bottom of the zipper in not much thicker than tin foil and bends down or out so it does not force the teeth together. One the first bag this metal bottom broke off completely.
BEER30 Posted October 10, 2008 #10 Posted October 10, 2008 Do you know if they are #10 or #8 YKK zippers ? Or Win-Zip zippers ? Solid tooth or coil tooth ? I may have replacement pulls . Normally you can get the teeth back together , then take a pair of pliers , reach over the zipper slider and squeeze the back trailing part of the zipper . It's the rear part of the zipper slider that squeezes the zipper chain together . When some people tie cord onto the zipper pull , it causes the slider to bind and the slider spreads , causing the zipper chain not to connect together . I use #10 heavy duty solid tooth zippers . I hate the coil tooth even though they slide smoother . BEER30

This zipper is so lame it has absolutely nothing to due with how hard you pull the zipper. After the first one just broke we've been nothing but super gentle with this one. Like I said the zipper pull is just cheap thin metal. I'm tempted to just send you the bag (if you'd like) then you could use it as a pattern and make a good bag. Edited October 10, 2008 by juggler
