What if I had not dropped the filter?

What if we had not hugged our family one more time before leaving?

What if Sleeperhawk had not pulled over for me to take that special picture?

What if I had not run back for that one more camera shot?

The list can go on and on for yesterday. We had just left Snake River Canyon on Arizona 77 and as we are apporaching a bend, cars coming towards us kept flashing their lights so we thought a bad wreck was ahead.

No, instead a boulder the size of a small car was sitting dead center in the road. It, by the grace of God, did not hit any cars or trucks. It had just come out of the mountain because it had been raining and got dislodged!

So yes, I believe our friendship guardian bells do work!

Then on I-40 east of the Petrified Forest, we finally saw some elk! We have been seeing signs for elk, deer and animals the whole trip!

Well, time to get on all this cold weather gear we have been hauling around all week. It is now 36 degrees here in Gallup, New Mexico!

Off to Four Corners we go!

Ride safe,

Wow! What a rock! You are right, that would have left a mark.

Those elk are huge! (And I worry about the deer and turkey!) Those things are car-size!

Have a good time!

Bobbie,Glad you all are OK! I sure hope you take US 550 out of Durango to Ouray..You will not be disappointed! Take alot of pictures if you do and tell Sleeperhawk to keep his eyes on the road. Tom

I hope that you took a moment to kick it off to the side of the road. :rotf:And, you know how they always say "you go where you're looking". So, when we see a rock laying in the road, we're not supposed to focus on it because then we tend to ride over it. So, when we see a rock this size . . .

On my recent trip out west I kept seeing wildlife signs and falling rock signs. It pays to pay attention to them. In Georgia we worry about hitting a deer at night on the bike. Out west be mindfull of the Elk and the Buffaloe they are much much bigger than the deer. Be careful and have a safe trip home.:7_6_3[1]:

Wow I'd love to see a car sized turkey:scared: or a car sized deer for that matter. Now Elk, Moose Buffaloe and Boulders thats a whole different story.

Had several close calls myself. A rock slide at 5am in the morning was one of them. Lots of stories of missed opportunities to leave this world before my time. But I'm not complaining. Like the song says everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to go now.Count your blessings for another day.
