Lifting the RSV

My current ride is a V*1100. Using a lift under it is quite interesting because the engine is lower than the frame. I use hockey pucks strategically placed on the lift arms to avoid lifting the bike by the engine (although some have said that is no big deal).

My question is: Does the RSV have a flat bottom frame with the bottom of the engine above the bottom of the frame? Or is it like the V* and creativity time again? Thanks from a prospective RSV buyer.

Definitely need to be creative.

 

Larry (Carbon One) has designed and built a lift that will go on a regular jack to be able to lift "the beast". I've been using some 2x4's strategically placed in order to get my RSV up off the ground for winter storage.

The frame is the same as the 1100. Now having said that, some use Hockey Pucks while some also buy a "adapter" that goes under the RSV in place of the center stand. While using this "adapter", the bike is held in place and is steady and well supported. There is a person on this site "carbon one" who sells this type of adapter and you can ad adapter on EBAY. Check the classifieds on this site for "carbon ones" adapter and the info on the forums for info on how well it works.

Well thanks for the sad news. Guess I was 'hoping in the wind'. This may just be the stimulus I need to buy a real shop lift. Guess if I am going to spend this kind of $ for a new bike, what is another large bill for a real lift. (Got to keep saying that over and over.)

This frame is not the same as the V Star 1100. I ride the Royal Star and my wife rides the V Star. I use wood blocks with the lift and they work fine. But a couple of the blocks have to be different between the two bikes to make the lift fit.

got my lift at Sears for 69 bucks. Got my "Larry lift adaptor" and everything is rock solid. Not a real big bill, but worth every penny

Couldnt even get the jack under Marilyns vstar! Used those scissor type lifts to get hers off the ground. What a pain.
