Sorry wrong on my brother's bike mileage,he retired his 86 Venture at 296,854 miles.And it was still running when he retired it and still had the K&N air filter that was installed at 24,541miles,reason he retired it was because the bike was getting to top heavy for his old legs so he went to a low profile V-Star.Talked to him just know on the phone we are having a family dinner tomorrow,so I asked him while we were on the phone.

Had 106,000 on my 83 Venture when I sold it 6 years ago, and I guess the fact that it was a very clean bike, I got $2,600.00 for it. "BUT", that's because I spent $1,300 getting second gear taken care of, and I just spent $750.00 putting a new stator and rectifier in, so I lost out on getting rid of it. "BUT", after having a heart attack, I had the straight 83, and wanted to buy one more bike with all the bells and whistles, so I bought a brand new 99 RSV. :080402gudl_prv:in whatever you decide to do.

I have a FJ1200 ,XR600 and a CR500

that is street legal.

But i need to get the wife out and did

some research and looks like a venture

is the way to go.

I have a 2003 Venture with 86,500 on it and a 2000 Venture with 83,000 on it. The one you're looking at is low mileage for it's age. Sure it hasn't gone around the clock?

I personally think that is waaaay too many miles on that bike. Where did you say it was at?

It all depends on the condition of the bike. It sounds like it looks good, but, if it needs the typical repairs the last 2 of these I purchased had to have, despite looking well cared for, one was actually advertised as impeccable, it is not that good of a price for the mileage.

 

This machine has enough systems, cylinders, carbs, body work, on it that it can get pricey, especially if you have to take it to the shop. You need to verify what has been done to it to know what you are getting.

 

That being said, I sold a 91 with 98k on it for 4000.00. I had gone through it totally doing most work myself except valves. Original price was 2700.00, and I basically broke even on it at 4000.00, donating my time, which worked out great.

 

The buyer did not hesitate and is happy with it, bought it same day he test rode it.

 

These are great machines, nothing on the new dresser market has as much to offer until you get above 15k, so they really are a bargain if you look at it that way.
