Two Tone White Posted October 1, 2008 #1 Posted October 1, 2008 I've noticed that I am not the only one with this problem, but our Virginia Flag which is typically in the upper right hand corner of a posting has been replaced by some nonsense. Any mods know what happened or how to fix this? Thanks in advance... TTW
Gray Ghost Posted October 1, 2008 #3 Posted October 1, 2008 You mean that you didn't hear the news that Virginia was following the lead of many sports venues and sold naming rights for the state. You guys will soon be the known as the Commonwealth of Nokia
lonestarmedic Posted October 1, 2008 #4 Posted October 1, 2008 Yup I hear the NFL is negotiating with Texas. However, Texas is holding out for the right to cecede from the league and form one of its own at any time in the future. JB
Freebird Posted October 1, 2008 #5 Posted October 1, 2008 Your flag is showing up fine from here. I really have no idea what you are talking about.
Two Tone White Posted October 1, 2008 Author #6 Posted October 1, 2008 This is what I am seeing on my profile and anyone else who has a VA flag:
Bummer Posted October 1, 2008 #8 Posted October 1, 2008 Both Opera and Firefox display the flag. No problems here.
Freebird Posted October 1, 2008 #9 Posted October 1, 2008 That is very strange. I even logged in as you and it still shows the correct flag. Is anybody else having this problem? Do me a favor, right click on the image that you are seeing and let me know what the file name is.
Squeeze Posted October 1, 2008 #11 Posted October 1, 2008 I'd suggest to clean the Browser Cache. The Flaf File(VA.gif) sure could be used by another Graphik and the Browser takes this Pic out of the Cache instead of loading from the Site. Thus the wrong Picture there.
Gray Ghost Posted October 2, 2008 #14 Posted October 2, 2008 I think Squeeze has it right. From all the other people seeing the flag, it has to be something on his machine.
Two Tone White Posted October 2, 2008 Author #16 Posted October 2, 2008 This is the file name from a right click: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/misc/flags/states/VA.gif Let me clean the browser (Firefox) and see what happens. Thanks everyone.
Two Tone White Posted October 2, 2008 Author #17 Posted October 2, 2008 I'd suggest to clean the Browser Cache. The Flaf File(VA.gif) sure could be used by another Graphik and the Browser takes this Pic out of the Cache instead of loading from the Site. Thus the wrong Picture there. Well, I learned my lesson. I was always told by my parents about wearing clean underwear and not messing around with dirty girls, but now I need to remember to keep a clean browser. Problem has been solved. Used Firefox "Clear Private Data" option to clean it followed by another washer program and I can see the grand flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia once again, not only on my postings, but also for everyone else from VA. Not sure where the hell that other image came from about Halloween, but it is gone now. Thanks everyone; crisis eliminated.
Freebird Posted October 2, 2008 #18 Posted October 2, 2008 OK....that file IS the correct one and I just double checked the server and it IS the Virginia flag so the image that you are seeing is not coming from here. I agree with Squeeze also, you have picked it up somewhere else and it is in the cache of your machine. You can try clearing all your temporary Internet files, cache, etc. You could also try just hold down the Ctl key why clicking "refresh" on your browser. Don
