TxVenture Posted September 29, 2008 #1 Posted September 29, 2008 yeah I know it's not a Venture. A friend of mine passed this along to me to see if I knew anyone who might be interested in something like this. 1998 Honda ST1100 with less than 19000 miles, new tires, shaft drive, cruise control, fairing, bike cover, hasn't been ridden in 1 1/2 yrs. Corbin leather seat with fold down back rest, new original seat, service manual. Batt. is down, (bad??), buy as is. Price several months ago was $3500. Don't know if that is negotiable or not. The bike is in Victoria, Tx. if interested let me know and I will shoot a P.M. with owners ph. no. Other than what is posted, I have not seen bike or know anything about it. Don H.
GeorgeS Posted September 29, 2008 #2 Posted September 29, 2008 A fellow I used to work with, had one, he put about 30K on it, with one tire change and Oil Changes. Absolutly no problems. I recently found a fellows web site, he said he ran one to about 75K with nothing but normal maintenance. He now runs an ST 1300, and its up to 90K , same comments as to quality. I was at a local dealer here couple weeks ago, to get some parts. They had a Used 2002, ST-1100 on the lot, with 4500 miles on it, asking $5800.00 ( Red one ) Like new condx, !! Basicly, any good used bike with a Liter Class Engine, is going to bring between 3 to 4 K. So I would say If a good mechanic checks it over, and no apparent problems, Its a good deal in my opinion ( unless some obvious defects ) Most likely will need a new battery though.
Guest Ken8143 Posted September 29, 2008 #3 Posted September 29, 2008 Have a buddy with an ST 1100, over 100,000 miles, running like a charm. Don't know the year of it.

Mariner Fan Posted September 30, 2008 #5 Posted September 30, 2008 I had to look up a picture to see what it was. Nice sports tourer.
Squidley Posted September 30, 2008 #6 Posted September 30, 2008 I have always wanted one, rode the 1st model year when I was in the service back in 1991.....I still want one, just can't afford it right now
Hugbare Posted September 30, 2008 #7 Posted September 30, 2008 Have a couple of friends here with ST 1100 and I have a ST 1300 .. They are bullet proof just like the ole 1g Ventures .. Both the ST have over 100K and I have about 35K on my ST1300 .. NO PROBLEMS at all .. They are great sport tourers, a lot like the 1g bikes just a lot lighter and more guts .. If it is a late model that your friend has then it is a good deal .. Little clean up and she should be good to go ..
jhw47 Posted September 30, 2008 #8 Posted September 30, 2008 I have a 2001 ST1100 with over a 100,000 miles. Runs today as it did when it was new. If I had not just bought a Royal Star, I would be interested. Maybe I am anyway............ Can you get me the guy's e-mail address. One can never have too many bikes if they can be bought at bargan prices. Over the years I have bought & sold a lot of them. Most I have ridden 4 or 5,000 miles and given then a little TLC and sold them for a bit more than I paid. Found some I like better than others. I think I will like the Royal Star if I can get the carbs sorted. Got one that wants to run over. Of all the bikes that have come and gone only the ST stays. It's a great ride.

Don - I didn't know the ST 1100 had a cruise control. Is this a after market thing or a throttle lock?
Hugbare Posted September 30, 2008 #10 Posted September 30, 2008 They are aftermarket ... I have the MCCruise on my 1300, lots of folks put the Audiovox Cruise on the 1100 ... Both work well ..
Hugbare Posted September 30, 2008 #12 Posted September 30, 2008 I'll let jhw answer on the 1100 .. The ST1300 is pretty good as long as you keep a tight reighn on the right hand, which is really hard to do some time .. I avg about 42mpg intown and have gotten as much as 54mpg on a 55mph freeway with the cruise on ... At 70mph freeway w/cruise it is consistent 48mpg ... Course when the right hand gets away from ya, it drops to 38mpg.
