hipshot Posted September 27, 2008 #1 Posted September 27, 2008 i came out of a local drug store, this afternoon, with close to $100.00 worth of "over the counter" stuff, for Jeannie. sitting in front of the "pay phone"(remember those), was a woman in a wheelchair, leg in a cast. her husband asked if i had any spare pocket change, so that they could call SOMEONE , in a neighboring town, (about 60 miles away),to ask for a ride home. it was HOT, NO shade on her side of the store, so i dug deep, and came up with $10.00 or 12.00 dollars worth of change. i NEVER spend change, so now you know. i started to try to separate the quarters , dimes and nickles, etc. then i thought , hell with it. and gave it all to her! sure felt better, on the way home. got rid of a lot of excess weight, and might have helped out a stranger! just jt:scorched:
Guest Ken8143 Posted September 27, 2008 #2 Posted September 27, 2008 Proud of you - not enough of generosity around. Random acts of kindness - you never know when you will be in need of it yourself.
GigaWhiskey Posted September 27, 2008 #3 Posted September 27, 2008 Ditto on what ken said. But where do you get change, I haven't had cash one me for years. And when I do end up with a couple buck or some coin, I get something to eat while at work. So, I guess that means I each lunch, out of about 20 days a month, maybe once, if I am lucky. I never eat breakfast. Rarely have something called luch but I do eat dinner. That's cause momma is a good cook. That girl can make some killer gumbo.
GigaWhiskey Posted September 27, 2008 #5 Posted September 27, 2008 :bighug:At Tim Horton's That's a gentlemen's club, ain't it, LOL.

Rich99 Posted September 27, 2008 #15 Posted September 27, 2008 at least that's the way I use to do it. I would put most of the extra change at the end of the day in a large plastic cup in my dresser. Then when it was time to go to Reno or Las Vegas, I'd put it in plastic containers like the paper wrappers that you get from the bank to wrap your coins. Put them all in a big plastic bag and go gambling with it. The only thing wrong with that now is they don't have coin slot machines any more. There are some, but you have to look for them. Always liked getting my hands dirty because the coin machines didn't take your money as fast as the electroni slot machines. The pennys just go in a large container of which the wife wraps them up and takes to our bank. Use to like coins when they were made of silver, got use to the sound they made and now it all sounds like phony money. Cracks me up when you want to leave the machine and when you press the button to get whatever money is left you haven't spent, then it has to sound like real coins are dropping, I still miss the old slots!
Dano Posted September 28, 2008 #16 Posted September 28, 2008 Put mine in a 5 gallon jar to save up for IR next year!

krome rose Posted September 28, 2008 #18 Posted September 28, 2008 I feed the 19 y.o. with no job, what spare change?
SaltyDawg Posted September 28, 2008 #19 Posted September 28, 2008 I save mine in an old glass milk bottle and when bike week comes around I turn it to cash so I have a little money to spend on myself. Krome Rose spends all my other money, so I am stuck collecting the jingly stuff.
Redneck Posted September 28, 2008 #20 Posted September 28, 2008 I have a 5 gallon water bottle almost full that is my retirement. When I run across a situation like yours I loan them my cell phone. Last week on the way home from the ranch I found a couple broken down in the middle of nowhere they didn't speak any English and the only spanish I know seems to offend those folks. I had two choices shoot them or loan them my phone well with the price of amo these days I just loaned them my phone and listened to gibberish for 5 minutes.
Snarley Bill Posted September 28, 2008 #21 Posted September 28, 2008 heres a good one for you. went on a long ride with wayne, aka wtho, yesterday, and we are cruisin on hwy 50 in mo. about 60mph. here's a gal on the side of the road in a dress waving her purse at us. wayne slams on his brakes and goes about 1/8 mile back to be of help. i watch in my mirror and see all kinds of running around waynes bike going on. pretty soon here comes wayne with the gal on the bike. and takes her about 3 mile down the road and drops her off at a junction and she takes off walking. i ask wayne what was all that about. he says her car broke down, she said she did'nt have no underwear on which wayne said he verified, don't ask how, she was'nt married , and he got her phone no.. i asked was she drunk and wayne said he thought she was the night before. never a dull moment when you ride with wayne. but he did his good deed for the day. :rotf:
